Title The Word and Revival/Hebrews 4:12
Content Word and Revival/Hebrews 4:12
The girl had never been to church until then. However, as she listened to the Bible, a revival occurred within her. It is written in today's text:
“For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
God's Word is alive. That is why it is said that it has movement power and can even pierce and split the soul, spirit, and joints of a person. God's Word does not only benefit the soul, but affects the soul, body, and the whole person. That is why there are people who are healed of their diseases by listening to the word of God. In some cases, those who heard the word of God wept and repent.
In the article ‘When the Holy Spirit Came on Korea in 1907’, written by Canadian missionary Stephen Gofoss, Elder Gil Seon-ju, the leader of the church, repented of his sins among 1,500 people who heard the Word at the time. “I am like Achan. God could not bless me because of me. About a year ago, a friend of mine, who was about to die, called me to his house and asked me to do it. “Elder Gil, I am going to die soon. My wife is not capable enough, so I want you to arrange my fortune.” I said, "Don't worry, I'll do it." However, while managing his wife's property, he defrauded him of $100. I have interfered with God's work. I will return the $100 to your wife tomorrow morning.”
Through the repentance of Elder Gil Seon-joo, there was a conversion among the church members. The revival meeting started at 7pm and continued until 2am the next day. God's word has power. Because the Word is alive, it has the power to save people. The living Word of God is the source of revitalizing the church, reconciling families, and changing the world.
