Title To Overcome Despair / Jonah 2:1-10
Content To overcome despair / Jonah 2:1-10
"Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish, saying, "I called to the LORD because of my affliction, and you answered me, and I cried out from the belly of Sheol, and you heard my voice..." (Jonah 2) Chapter 1-10)
Jonah disobeyed God and led a self-centered life, and eventually got into the belly of a big fish. They complained and complained and ended up being trapped in the belly of a big fish. However, with God's help, Jonah escapes from the whale's belly. As we live in the world, there are times when we get into the belly of a fish of despair. How can you escape from the belly of this deep frustration?
You must look to God. Jonah could not see anything in the whale's belly. There was only darkness of despair. But in a situation of absolute despair, Jonah is looking at the temple of the Lord. When we look to God, hope arises. Psalm 73:28 says, “It is a blessing for me to draw near to God.” If you look to God, those who are in despair will find hope.
You must think of God. I hope you will think of God, especially when you are in trouble. To think of God means to think from God's point of view. God's perspective is always positive. God's thoughts are always to do us good. God's thoughts are always productive. If we think according to God's thoughts, the way will be opened.
You must have a grateful heart. Jonah was able to come out of the whale's belly because he had a grateful heart. When children learn to appreciate their parents, they are mature. A child who does not know gratitude thinks of himself as if he is big. But with gratitude, things change. You must have a sense of duty. You must find your own calling. You need a purpose in life. If you have a sense of calling, you will escape from the belly of the whale.
