Title: What do these stones mean?
Various monuments or memorials have been erected all over the world. Most of these memorials and monuments are built to nurture the achievements or achievements of a person or group. The Bible testifies to us that it was built to commemorate the power and grace of God for generations to come.
There were two crossing incidents before Israel left Egypt and entered Canaan. The first case was when they crossed the Red Sea like land when they left Egypt and entered the wilderness, and the second case was when they crossed the Jordan River to enter Canaan through the wilderness. The main text is a monument commemorating the second incident, the Jordan River crossing.
These stones were used by the priests when the Jordan River parted.
It is a stone taken from the place where the ark was carried. It was the most appropriate measure to commemorate the crossing of the Jordan River by taking twelve stones from the place where the priests stood. It is to testify that the people of Israel are coming out. It is God's power and grace that the Israelites crossed the Jordan River.
After crossing the Jordan, tell them to build a monument in stone.
Those of faith who were faithful to the Lord always built a stone altar and worshiped God. When Noah came out of the ark, he made sacrifices and built an altar. Abraham built an altar with rams instead of Isaac. Isaac received the blessing of Rehoboth and built an altar. At Bethel, Jacob worshiped with a pillow of stones as an altar.
The twelve stones were given to all the twelve tribes of Israel.
It is the grace that God has given. God has told us to take a stone from each of the twelve tribes and build a monument. All Christians have a duty to remember God's grace and to bear witness to it.
What is the purpose of the monument? It is about not forgetting God's power and grace. It is a command to teach our descendants clearly and intelligently. All of God's grace and power must be passed on to neighbors, not just to me. God's grace that does not do this is ingratitude. To always fear the Lord God. Do I have a monument of faith that cannot leave God? What is a monument of faith that cannot forget God in our family?
