What should I do? (Genesis 16:1·16)
There are many things in life that we ask ourselves how we should do it.
In today's text, we want to find answers to very important questions in our lives.
A. It seems that God has forgotten me. What should I do?
God's covenant is not fulfilled by human means.
Faith, trust, and patience to wait for God's time
Must have (V.2)
B. I don't know where I'm coming from or where I'm going.
What should I do?
Meet God in today's place of life (V.8)
Then the past, the future, and the life of today
have the answer to the question.
God asks us the question He asked Hagar.
Ask about our past. 1. Where are you from? (past/relationship)
You ask about our future. 2. Where are you going? (Future/Purpose)
- Be passionate about meeting God in all areas of your life.
You must be immersed in meeting God.
- What were you doing today 10 years ago?
- Can you see what you are doing today 10 years from now?
See the vision God has given you.
C. No one thinks of me. What should I do?
God is watching my life.
Entrust yourself to God. (V.13)
1. The first step in obtaining God's help is
Our sins have to be dealt with.
God sees our sins. (v.4)
God looked upon Hagar's sin of pride.
And God dealt with Hagar's sin.
2. God sees, hears, and watches over our abuse and suffering.
(v.6, 11) And comforts. (v.11)
3. God sees the way we should go. (v.13)
And he tells us where to go.
He knows the future of Hagar (v.9) and the future of Ishmael and his descendants (v.12).
