Title When Problems Come/Jon 2:1~10
When a content problem comes/Jon 2:1~10
“You have cast me into the depths of the sea, and great waters surround me, and all your waves and your great waves have flowed over me” (Jon 2:1-10).
The prophet Jonah was a prophet who was active in the northern kingdom of Israel in 790 BC. Jonah received God's command, but he forsook his mission and went another way. After being in the belly of meat for 3 days, he repented and fulfilled his mission. Jonah had a wrong missionary view and narrow heart, but in the end he was a prophet who took on God's work.
First, it is faith to solve problems through prayer (Jon 2:2). Jonah said that he prayed because of suffering. Suffering itself is painful, but God is letting us go through the valley of suffering, through the furnace of suffering, to put off our broken things and to gain a new faith in pure gold (Psalm 119:67). Jonah prayed in the belly of the fish. All the ledgers of faith prayed more when faced with difficult problems. God protects and guides those who pray with faith.
Second, it is the faith to know that it is my fault when problems come (Jon 1:12). Jonah was a prophet who knew that he was the cause of the unhappiness of the people on the ship. Small people avoid responsibility and big people take responsibility. Believers who have faith do not blame others when problems and difficulties come, but take responsibility for their disloyalty, failure to pray, and failure to live according to the Lord's will. Jonah says, "Throw me into the sea," and decides that I will solve the misfortune caused by me.
Third, it is faith in God's absolute sovereignty when problems come (Jon 2:3). Jonah believed that all things came from the Lord. He confesses that it is the Lord's work that he was thrown into the sea by those in the boat and died in the belly of the fish. Everything in this world cannot be made white without God's permission. Job confesses that God gave and the Lord took away (Job 1:21). If you know that everything is God's providence, pray and live according to the Word, miracles will come.
The prophet Jonah is a prophet who was scolded for failing to do his mission, but a warrior of faith worthy of imitation. When difficult problems like Jonah come, let us take responsibility through prayer and the Word and solve them with faith in God.
