Title Witness / Acts 1:1-11
The Witness
Acts 1:1-11
In June, our church is meditating on the Book of Acts and receiving guidance from God's Word. The book of Acts is a valuable historical document that shows how the early church, born through the descent of the Holy Spirit, changed the world and grew and matured as a witness of the gospel. What is wonderful and thankful is that God is guiding us with the most appropriate word by having our community meditate on the Book of Acts, which is preparing for the 4th theme service on June 12. In history, the church whose passion for the gospel and command was extinguished disappeared because it was not faithful to its mission. God is challenging us to serve this region and the nations with the passion of the Spirit. With the words of today's text that opens the book of Acts, I want you to reflect on our worthy life as witnesses burning with the passion of the Holy Spirit. What should our witnessed life be like?
1. You must be able to dedicate yourself to one person. (v. 1-2)
“O Theophilus, in my first writing, everything Jesus began to do and teach (v.1)
2. You must receive power through the filling of the Holy Spirit. (v. 3-8)
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (v. 8)
3. The vision of the second coming of Jesus must be clear. (v. 9-11)
“...This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.
lira." (v.11b)
Sternberg painted Jesus with a crown of thorns on his head and standing mocked before Pilate and the Jews. The name of the painting is “Look at this man.” Below the picture is this text. “I did this for you. What have you done for me?” The most precious thing we can do for you is to bring to you the very neighbor you loved to the point of bloodshed. I pray that you will become a week that leads those you love to the Lord with the filling of the Holy Spirit and the vision of the second coming of Jesus.
“You go into all the world and
Preach the gospel.” (Mark 16:15)
