Title Words and Prayers 1 Timothy 4:5

Content God's Word and prayer transform and sanctify us. The word holy means ‘to be set apart, different’. Just as the day and night are different, the saints must lead a life separate from the people of the world. Because God is holy. Therefore, we must also be holy (1 Peter 1:15-16). Why do the Word and prayer sanctify us?

First, because the Word is God. The Bible says, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14), and the place to meet God is the ark of the testimony (Numbers 17:4). When you meditate on the Word, you meet God. Those who meet God are transformed and become holy. It is said that Moses' face lit up when he heard God's voice from Mount Sinai, received the Ten Commandments, and came down. God's Word and prayer transform people into holiness.

Second, we meet God when we read, meditate, and listen to the Word. The Bible says, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). When we read, see, and hear the Word of God, we meet God. So, those who meet God are transformed into holiness (Exodus 3:5).

Third, because the Word is the sword of the Holy Spirit. The Bible says, “Having the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17), “The word of God is living and has power, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. and discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). Therefore, those who hear the word will be pierced in their hearts, repent and become a new person (Acts 2:37-38, Acts 7:54).

Fourth, because the Word makes you born again. The Bible says, “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of immortal seed, by the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:23). Therefore, you must study and meditate on the Word to be born again and become blessed (Psalm 119:9-11). The Word of God is a lamp, a mirror, power, and food.

Fifth, prayer sanctifies us. Because prayer is a conversation with God (Revelation 3:20), the secret to being filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 4:31), the way to be forgiven (1 John 1:9, Psalm 32:5), and the key to solving problems (Mark 11:24). ) and it is a weapon that defeats Satan (James 4:7). Therefore, we must not stop praying.

Dear brothers and sisters, it is the season of Lent. To commemorate this, the churches are living a godly life by repenting, praying all night, and meditating on the death and resurrection of the Lord. I hope all the saints give thanks and glory to God through the Word and prayer.
