You cannot live without losing (1 Timothy 6:7-12)
There are battles that we can lose even if we make concessions, and there are battles that must be won. The war that must be won is a spiritual battle. This is because if they lose in spiritual battle, they become slaves to the devil and suffer in hell. What attitude should our members take to win the spiritual battle?
I. You must be satisfied with what you have (7, 8)
Paul tells people to know that they have nothing with them when they are born, to emphasize that they do not possess anything from birth, and to have the attitude of faith that can be satisfied with the minimum level of life.
In particular, the text emphasizes that the abundance of wealth cannot be the measure of salvation or happiness, and it is not something that a person can take with them after death. It is said that many riches are rather an obstacle to religious life and good deeds, and the true attitude that believers must maintain is to have a self-sufficient heart.
Saints! True happiness does not come from material abundance, but from a relationship with God. Therefore, I hope that you will build a right relationship with God, know how to be satisfied with what you have, and overcome the temptations of material things.
Ⅱ. You must fight your lust (9)
Those who have a strong desire to be rich fall into lust. These are people who ignore the laws of human coexistence and base their lives on the exploitation and injustice of their neighbors.
