Title “On the first day of the week”
We all have a moment when we have to decide where we want to go for the biggest bout of our life. Dear saints, where are you betting? This must be clear to Christians.
Today is Easter. It is the first day that He overcame the authority of death and rose again. It is the first day on the first day that God became flesh (incarnation) and came to save us, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again the third day. God is omnipotent. Death can not keep his prey. After all, he was not killed by anyone (Roman emperor, Pilate, priest, scribe, Pharisee, traitor Judas Iscariot), but because he loved one life more than the world. In spite of sinners, He died on the cross for us to save us (atonement sacrifice). This is a concrete word that God has already revealed. You don't know!!
“He was pierced for our transgressions, and he was bruised for our iniquities. By his chastisement we have peace; by his wounds we are healed. We all, like foolish sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to sin, but God has laid upon him the iniquity of all of us. He suffered all the wrath, yet he did not open his mouth, like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and a sheep that did not cry before its shearers” (Isaiah 53:5-8).
The Cross. Jesus, who accomplished God's will to save us, who is he really? He is the creator of heaven and earth. He makes all things be or not. He saves and also kills. That is why he is the Almighty (El Saddai). But he did not come down. The One who can do anything, Jesus. Therein lies the mystery of love. It is a love that cannot be measured as a human being. So we recite that love only as “The Love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell” (Hymns/Chapter 404).
However, this mystery was solved by the event of the Resurrection. It is a confirmation of God who can save us from sin (death). “O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:53-58). You are the first fruits of the resurrection, the first witnesses, and you accomplished the first day. So? We confess our glory with “Hallelujah” (Hymns 155, 159). But the secret of this mysterious love and salvation is not known to anyone. Faith that believes in this, or more specifically, faith in the resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus is a historical event. It is a historic event that took place in front of everyone at the time. We must believe in this historical event and believe in the event of salvation that He showed us. To ‘believe’ is to live his life. It is a life of love, a life of service, that is, a life of the cross.
You and I, who have experienced the historic event of God's salvation, how can a person believe in this and live a life that resembles him? Unable to. On the contrary, it is again a bond among sins. Therefore, we must again receive the help of the Holy Spirit who came as the Spirit. This too was already said by the Lord to his disciples in his farewell sermon (John 14:18-ff). When the Day of Pentecost came and came to Peter and John, who believed and prayed, the resurrection of faith in the resurrection was accomplished in the power of God. It will be ‘Jesus Resurrection, My Resurrection’. Only those who have this faith will truly experience “on the First Day of the Week” of life.
