《40 Years in the Wilderness》
(Deuteronomy 8:2 / 32:7)
(…) Today is August 15, the 65th anniversary of liberation. Events inscribed in history are not accidental. There is undoubtedly God’s providence. (…) Japanese imperialism, the butcher of mankind in modern history, came to an end with the mobilization of 10 million troops, 2,900 days of death and killing, 17 million corpses and 1 trillion dollars of war expenses. . The 65-year history of Japan's defeat is long. Weak countries are becoming independent, becoming economically independent from the colonial system, and getting out of ignorance, disease and poverty. For believers, its significance from the historical standpoint of Christianity has become clearer.
① These are 40 years to remember.
The past always becomes the wisdom to live in the future. What should I remember? It is to remember the state of Egypt as a slave. We have to think about the 105 people incident and the incident for national independence. This is a lesson to remember that the people of our New Testament church were slaves in a world of sin. We used to be slaves to sin (…). From this tragic bondage, we were set free through Jesus Christ. It was the way of God's providence and the way of living in the future. You have to remember this.
②It was 40 years of exams.
A test is a way of refinement, a way to humble oneself..(…) Those who have had the experience of the wilderness know that life cannot live on bread alone, and that they do not stand in the world by their own efforts, but must have God's grace.( …) God prepared the table in the wilderness with manna. The clothes were also taken care of. My feet were not swollen. He made known when to go forward and where to stay with the pillar of fire and cloud. This supernatural history shows that the 40 years of the wilderness was entirely God's will.(…)
③It was 40 years of hope.
Jesus Christ is the one who made the division between Jews and Gentiles into one.(…) Now, 65 years after liberation, Japan must also be reconciled, but obstacles keep appearing.(…) We believe that Japan reflects on the past like Germany did. and hope to become a country equipped with common sense. The 40 years in the wilderness should not be a road of regression filled with resentment and complaints. (…) Just as the Israelites remember the 40 years of the wilderness road and learn by asking questions from their ancestors, the 40-year history of Korea being oppressed by Japan is You must realize that it was the way of blessing, the way of the future, the way of waiting, and the way of fulfillment. The 40 years of the wilderness were a period of preparation to make Korea a land flowing with milk and honey. It is the time to build a beautiful land, and it is the period of fulfillment of the covenant. It is the land that God swore to our ancestors, and it was a path full of grace.(…) Amen.
