《Let’s go up to Bethel》
(Genesis 35:1-7)
Let's go back to Bethel
(Gen. 35:1~7)
(…) If we carefully read the Bible, we can hear the voice of God calling us. That is why there are many words to come in the Bible. Why does God say this and that? Which is the true intention of God?(…) God said, “Do not appear before me” and “Do not offer sacrifices. God's true intention means to do your best with all sincerity.(...) God does not want formal or forced worship. We need to give our hearts to God.(…) Please pray a lot to become a good worshiper.(…) God is asking me and you to build an altar there this morning. What does “going up to Bethel” mean to us?
① This is the word “repent”.
(…) Jacob went to Bethel and took all the foreign gods and earrings he had from his hands and buried them in the ground to build an altar. At that time, the earrings were a sign that they belonged to idols, so the earrings were also removed and buried in the ground. We forsake idols and abandon foreign customs. Implement a family faith plan. Build an altar and reaffirm God's blessings. The distance between Bethel and Shechem was 48 km. It's not that I couldn't go far. I couldn't go because I forgot my first love. “Go up to Bethel” is a call to repentance.
② We must build an altar.
To return to Bethel means to return to the God who fulfilled the vow. To return to God while experiencing God's grace and love means to worship God. (…) Worship must be restored. The sermon must be heard. It is not that God is silent. The word of God is heard by those who worship in spirit and in truth. We must make the word of God become a life event (…) and prayer must be restored. It is said that singing, prayer, the Word, and the way we live are living sacrifices.
③ We must return to the Bible.
The Bible must always resonate in our hearts. Cicada has no internal organs and is an empty chest and stomach. Both the guitar and the violin have great reverberation. Like Pol Potts with your whole body, you should become a reverberant through which prayers of thanksgiving and hymns resound for God. The word of God must resound in our lives.(…)
1114. We must show that our worship is a living sacrifice, a happy sacrifice.
Amen.
