《On Chuseok Festival》
(John 7:10-16)
Gratitude comes to those who give thanks.(…) The day after tomorrow is Chuseok. Christians sometimes struggle with sacrificial issues. I see that there are cases where families are divided because of the ritual. However, a harmonious Chuseok can be achieved with gratitude. I hope that the topic of Chuseok this year is a holiday that begins with thanksgiving.
①Jesus valued the holidays.(…) The brothers in the flesh of Jesus seem to have come to think that if they do well, their family will become very wealthy because of Jesus as they saw the miracles that Jesus performed in Galilee. Jesus knew the intentions of the brothers. So he said, “I will not go up to Jerusalem.” But in the end, he climbed up secretly. He went up secretly because he loved the holiday.(…)
③ The Lord wants us to be with you on this Chuseok holiday as well. Like Jesus, it should be a festival to respect and obey God, and to give thanks to God. (…) Christianity does not abolish sacrificial rites and make them worship (…). Compared to sacrificing in a material form, worship is spiritual. it is in the format. There is something in common, and this cannot be said to be good and that is bad. Should the family be divided because of the sacrifice?
It is a beautiful and wonderful filial piety to remember and respect and appreciate the grace of our ancestors who gave us life. What I am enjoying now is because I have inherited the lives of my ancestors. Christians have a command from God not to bow down to idols. God lived and worked in the lives of our ancestors, and He loved them. But when they died, their descendants made idols.(…) When people die, they are worshiped as gods. We must not do that. It is better to put a flower as if smelling the deceased and light a candle as if you were teaching the deceased. ㉠Take the material ritual as a spiritual meeting, ㉡Remove the tablets, ㉢Recall ancestors and share blessings (upbringing recording, video recording), ㉣Everyone get up and triple each other, ㉤Talk and live a healthy and happy life again Pray for it and finish. It is for Christians to enlighten and lead. I hope that it will be a Chuseok of thanksgiving and reconciliation with gratitude rather than quarrels. Amen!
