Title: Receive the Holy Spirit
Bible: Genesis 2:7, John 20:19-23
(…) Man was created from the dust of the earth. Not gold or silver dust. He was made of dust like the dust of the earth. (…) But the human spirit came from God. When the spirit was poured out on the human body, man became a noble being. Since the origin of the human soul is noble, and because the essence and talents have been created by God, man should cherish the corruptible body more than the soul. A similar incident is happening again. The disciples gathered on the evening of the day Jesus was resurrected. The Lord appeared there and said to the fearful and fearful disciple, "Peace be with you." Blessed with peace of mind, he breathed generously towards us. And he said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (…) The Spirit of God was spurted out and human work began. By receiving the Spirit of Jesus, the church is born and the world is purified. The Holy Spirit through Wesley saved British society from evil and gave birth to the Methodist Church.
(1) What does the Holy Spirit do?
(…) The breath (the Holy Spirit) of Jesus is the Spirit that gives power. “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love.” This was the work of Pentecost. The disciples, who were afraid and fearful, only hid themselves, and received power. He boldly began to cry out, “Jesus is the Christ.”(…) At this point, we realize that “my power is made perfect in weakness” (…). Besides, the Spirit of Jesus is a cleansing spirit (1 Corinthians 6: 11;Romans 1:4).(…) He is the Comforter. Paracletos is the name of the ancient Greek court of attorney. They were usually friends of the defendant. The Holy Spirit stays with us as a friend among our friends.(…)
(2) What does a person who has received the Holy Spirit look like?
㉠ I am led by the Holy Spirit. (…) ㉡ I try to live the life of Jesus. The characteristic of spiritual change is sharing. When we receive grace, we are supposed to share it. (…) ㉢ Miracles happen every day among those who have received the Holy Spirit. The church is a series of miracles, great and small. Miracles are endless. The greater miracle is the miracle of forgiveness and love. The reason behind the steady growth of the Sinchon Church is because miracles without rumors have appeared. ㉣ Those who live by the Spirit of Jesus find God's way even in the midst of suffering. Preach the gospel. I want to live right. In the midst of this, as the spiritual power gradually grows, the church of God becomes more beautiful.
