2009. 4. 12 Easter Sunday Worship
Text: Luke 24:1 -12
Christianity is said to be the religion of resurrection. It is a religion of hope because there is a resurrection.
The Greek word for resurrection, 'anastasis', comes from the words 'to raise', 'to build', and 'to bring to life'.
Also, the general meaning of the word resurrection is 'an event that cannot happen again'. Therefore, the resurrection of Jesus is a wonderful and special event that cannot be understood by human reason or wisdom. But the resurrection of Jesus has given all mankind great hope of being freed from death and brought to life again.
Christ's noble work did not end with his death as a substitute for human sin.
His work was completed by his resurrection.
Today is Easter.
A person who does not believe in the resurrection is not a Christian.
I pray in the name of the Lord that you will be reminded of the meaning of the resurrection of Jesus through the message of today's Word and have the assurance that I will be resurrected on that day.
At dawn the day after the Sabbath, the women went to the tomb of Jesus to incense his body.
Unlike the Egyptian and Roman funeral methods, where the body was preserved, the Jews put perfume on the body of the dead and wrapped it in soft linen cloth.
They seem to have decided that this was all they could do, but they were unable to let their loved one go away from their hearts. Sooner or later, Jesus' body was going to rot, and to prevent the rotting smell, he went to the tomb to apply spices, according to the custom of the Jews.
Their hearts are understood, but their beliefs cannot be understood.
Because it is difficult for us to find the resurrection faith in the actions of the women who went to the tomb of Jesus with spices.
Nevertheless, Jesus was the first to reveal his body to these women after his resurrection.
The Lord, who came to a lower place for a people who were despised,
He showed the body of the resurrection for the first time to women, who were a disrespectful class in the society at that time. We need to pay special attention to women in the Bible and in Christian history.
Lydia, a merchant in Thyatira, prepared an outpost for Paul's mission to the Gentiles, and the Philippian church, the first fruit, was established.
The same is true of the church today. It goes without saying that the dazzling service and activities of female members are leading the growth of the church.
At this point, we're talking about Jesus' resurrection and asking, 'Why a woman?' You can intuit that the question you are asking is just a doorway.
Meanwhile, angels appeared, asking, 'Why do you seek the living among the dead?'
It is nonsense that women who should rejoice in the Lord's resurrection are shrouded in sorrow.
This was the lack of resurrection faith. No, it was unbelief.
To seek life in death was foolish and completely unreasonable.
Life cannot lie forever in the grave. Life never dies.
The truth is forever. The Lord was resurrected because He is the life and the truth.
The Lord's resurrection is the overcoming of death, the assurance of forgiveness for all sins, and the victory of life.
When no one has faith in the resurrection, the soul, like these women, will wander.
I have no choice but to.
Only faith in the resurrection enables humans to live a life full of faith and enjoy peace.
Resurrection faith breathes life into the human soul.
The declaration of resurrection in verse 6, 'He is not here, but is risen' was a proclamation of a new concept of life.
“Remember how he spoke to you while he was in Galilee.”
Angels are reminding women of their faith in the resurrection.
These were the words of the teaching that the Lord taught when He was in Galilee that He would rise from the dead three days after He was crucified.
Jesus told his disciples several times about the resurrection on the third day after suffering on the cross
They were frustrated by the crucifixion of Jesus. They thought their hopes were over.
The fact that the Lord died on the cross was so shocking to them that they did not have the mental space to remember the words of the resurrection.
In verse 10, the women tell the disciples about the resurrection of Jesus.
But the apostles said that they did not believe our words as if they were false.
But one man, Peter, was different. Its ears lit up.
So, I run to check this fact and go directly into Jesus' tomb.
And when they found that there was no body of Jesus, only linen cloths, they marveled at it. It is still difficult to find traces of resurrection faith in Peter.
Golden Cornell Theological Seminary is located in the suburbs of Boston, USA.
When the Cornell Theological Seminary broke out in civil war, commander Russell Cornell was forced to retreat from the war.
However, this commander has left his command map behind.
A truly shameful thing has happened.
So Colonel Cornell had a boy named Ling bring him the sword.
This boy risked his life to enter the enemy camp and came with a knife, but he was shot and fell. As he enters the tent, offers his sword and closes his last eyes, Ling says:
‘I am not afraid of death. Because the risen Jesus is with me. I am not afraid of death, because the Lord is my friend.' The atheist, the skeptic, Cornell, who alone watched as he said these words and closed his eyes, knelt before the corpse and said, "Oh! Lord, what should I do in front of this child? Lord, I will give myself up for the God this child seeks.' will decide.
After the war, he studied theology to learn more about Jesus Christ.
And it was the Golden Cornell Theological Seminary that he built with all his fortune.
In addition, he founded Temple University and trained numerous leaders.
Ling's death seemed unfortunate. However, his death opened new life for Colonel Cornell.
The death of Jesus Christ on the cross gave me new life, and this continues as a noble ministry of spreading life to many people.
In my last sermon, I introduced a woman named Isabelle. I told the story of the mission school Isabel Girls' Middle and High School was established in Busan, Korea, as a result of her decision to sacrifice her life, who decided that it was meaningless to waste her fortune for the treatment of her incurable disease.
The story of Colonel Cornell today is in the same vein. He poured out all of his fortune to more effectively spread Jesus Christ, whom he received through the resurrection faith of a boy named Ling.
He founded Cornell Theological Seminary.
A young boy's faith in the resurrection was sown on the ground like a grain of wheat that spread the gospel to many people. So many people can share the resurrection faith.
The Rogers family was a devout Christian family. Sometimes we talked about salvation. What kind of scenery will heaven be created one day? We had a conversation about the issue. Dad also asked the youngest a question. Then, the youngest child said Dad Rogers when the angels called the names of the people who came to heaven, and Dad said, “Yes, here it is.” and answer. The next time I say Mom Rogers, my mom will say, “Yes, here it is.” And both the older brother Rogers and the older sister Rogers said, “Yes, here it is.” and answer. And… And… After hesitating for a while, the child said that when the angel called his name, he might not recognize him because he was too short.
When the angel calls my name, I'm small, so I jump and say out loud, 'Here!'
A few days later, on the way to the school bus, the child was hit by a car and taken to an ambulance.
Life is very endangered. The child was almost unconscious.
Doctors said they had already tried everything and there was no chance of a recovery.
The family watched without leaving the hospital room, but the lamp of life was slowly dying out.
Then, the boy's lips twitched a little, and he said a word that everyone could understand, and he let go of his life.
But the family did not feel so sad at the child's mumbled words.
The child said in a small but clearly audible voice, ‘Yes, here it is.’
You know what this means, right?
When we wake up from death like a deep sleep, it would be great if that place was heaven... What would you really do if it was Hell? It can't be a terrible thing.
In 1 Corinthians 15:52, it is written, 'When the trumpet sounds, the dead will live incorruptibility, and we will be changed.
And Philippians 3:21 records, ‘He will transform our lowly bodies to be like his glorious body by the work of him who is able to subject all things to himself.’
This is a wonderful word of blessing that, on the day of the Lord's return, we too will surely be resurrected in a body of glory.
Therefore, our belief in the resurrection of Jesus is not just a level of awareness.
When I have faith in the resurrection, it becomes a powerful motivator to lead my whole life faithfully.
It becomes a concrete force that governs my life.
Those who believe in the resurrection will not live solely on the greed of this earth as if they would live forever in this world.
I picture my resurrected figure in my heart on the day when the Lord comes again. How heartbreaking... …
It's not that exciting because you're going to wake up in the morning with the most excitement.
If I recognize this fact of the resurrection as a light-hearted sentimentality, I would
There will be no affair with women who go to the tomb to treat the dead Jesus with spices.
A person who has faith in the resurrection will never shrink even in the face of a world like Goliath.
For on that day all people will look forward to the Lord's return with terror,
Because it will be a day of triumph, filled with joy in our resurrected bodies.
Therefore, we are celebrating the day of the Lord's resurrection with joy in this way.
In the name of the Lord, I pray in the name of the Lord that all the members of Akashi Church who are living a more vibrant today by proclaiming this good news to all over the world.
