Word: Imagine the scene in today's Word. Children cried and adults fell to their knees at the terrifying sight. “Moses, we are about to die. Please, see God for you!” “Don't worry. God is warning you not to sin.”
It's good for close people to get close to each other. Whoever hates and hates people approaches them, for any reason other than to harm them. A person who has harmed others is not proud because they have a sorry heart and a sense of guilt toward the person who has been harmed because of them. So I'm reluctant to get too close.
Sin keeps us from coming close to each other. It distances the relationship between God and man. Being close to God is a good thing in any case. On the other hand, moving away from God means getting closer to sin, so it is bad in any way.
Even though the Israelites only saw and felt the phenomena that accompany God's presence, they were afraid to death. They could not endure the holy energy of God. This is because the Israelites were not spiritually mature. Spiritually immature people cannot hear God's Word directly. It is because our spiritual ears are closed, and even if we hear, we do not realize it.
To ‘listen’ to the Word means to trust in the person of the speaker and to meet with that person. Moses could hear the word of God. Moses was able to get close to where God was. This is a passage that shows that Moses has matured spiritually.
The idea of the people of Israel that if they approached God or heard God's words directly, they thought they would die, was wrong. God is the Lord of life and the One who saves. The process of going to God and listening to him can be painful. Sometimes you may even hear a terrible rebuke. But that way is the way of life. Didn't Jesus say that the road leading to life is narrow and difficult in many cases? Our family should yearn for the Word of God more fervently.
Prayer: Do not be lazy in meditating on the Word. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
