Title: Do as the Lord commands

Leviticus 9:1-7 Do as the Lord commands Tome: 33. Worship. sacrifice. 2008. 8. 3.

Introduction

: The challenge is to prepare to meet God.

God has promised to meet His people, reveal Himself, and give them a deep awareness of His presence.

The people who would meet God had to prepare to meet God. No one can experience the perfection of God's presence if there is sin in their life.

* Because God cannot meet the people until their hearts and lives are cleansed from sin.

God shows the perfection of His presence only to those who are pure and clean, that is, those whose sins are forgiven through the ransom of sacrifice.

1. The priests must prepare to meet God. (1~2)

The high priest continued to offer sacrifices throughout the seven days of the commissioning ceremony. The next day, at the first liturgy, they were ordered to offer a ransom sacrifice for them.

Believers must live a life of public confession before God. Continual cleansing from sin (because of the Lamb of God).

One). Before the worship service on the eighth day, the priest must first make atonement.

2). Priests to meet God

① Asking for forgiveness through the sin offering

② We must prepare while seeking atonement or reconciliation with God through burnt offerings.

3). The priest's offering to the LORD

(1) The offering for atonement is a calf without blemish;

(2) The burnt offering must be a ram without blemish.

2. The people must be prepared to meet God. (3~5)

Today the Lord will appear to you (God's Presence). So you have to be prepared.

One). The people must prepare to meet the Lord. (3)

① A he-goat for the sin offering: Asking for forgiveness through the sin offering.

② A one-year-old calf and a lamb without blemish for sins: seeking reconciliation with God.

③ For the peace offering, a grain offering mixed with bulls, rams, and tares: Seeking to grow in fellowship and peace.

2). God wants to reveal Himself to His people. (4)

① God wants His people to experience His presence.

② God wants His glory to be revealed in front of the people.

③ God wanted His people to march out victoriously as they marched to the Promised Land

④ God wants the people to know that He cares for them and watches over them.

⑤ If the people are ready,

* God reveals Himself to them,

* You will give them a deep consciousness of your presence.

3). everyone obeys (5)

The people brought it to the front of the tent of meeting as they were commanded.

The whole congregation (2 million to 4 million) came near the tent of meeting and stood before God.

3. Do what the Lord commands. (6-7)

This is what the Lord has commanded. If you do what the Lord commands, the glory of the Lord will be revealed.

One). Preparation and purpose re-emphasized (6)

It was prepared so that the glory of the Lord would appear. Emphasize again.

2). Offer the priest's sin offering and burnt offering. (7)

God reveals Himself when we are ready.

A deep and intense awareness of God's presence comes only from a heart cleansed from sin. Therefore, we must prepare by seeking forgiveness and reconciliation of our sins from the Lord who bore our sins.

(Luke 11:10; John 1:29; Ephesians 1:7; Deut 4:29; Isaiah 55:6)

Aaron the priest is being instructed by Moses, God's mediator. Moses is a type of Jesus.

Ministers must prepare to meet God in the worship service they supervise. It was Jesus Christ who directed this.

3). Offer ransom offerings and offerings for the people (7)

Aaron, the high priest, had to personally seek God first. This was a public confession of sin.

Note that Moses had Aaron first seek God for himself and then lead the people. All must come to God through the blood of the ransom.
