Topic: Do not grieve the Holy Spirit!
Text: Isaiah 63:7-14, Ephesians 4:25-32
God the Holy Spirit is a Triune God. God the Father is the Comforter who heard the prayers of the two God and Son Jesus, who lived on this earth in human flesh and sent to this earth (John 14:16). , 17). He is the God who came as a spirit to obey the will of our Heavenly Father, to be with us and to be our Helper. Of course, He is the personal Holy Spirit God who has complete designation. Just as our salvation is impossible without the grace of the cross, our salvation is impossible without the help of God the Holy Spirit. Along with the awakening of sin (John 16:8), He also enlightens us on the solution of sin (John 15:26). In the teaching of God the Holy Spirit (John 14:26; 16:13), we have our own spiritual reality (John 16:8) and Jesus' becoming the Christ (1 Corinthians 12:3).
It is because of our needs that the Holy Spirit is “with us forever” (anytime, anywhere). The help of God the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary for us to be saved from sin and become children of God and to live a life like a child. Of course, the grace of God the Holy Trinity that satisfies our needs is ‘love’. God’s love for us is “a love that is nevertheless, a love that cannot be broken in heaven and earth” (Romans 5:8; 8:31-39). When talking about the love of the Triune God, many people have heard of the love of God the Father and Jesus the Son, but not about the love of God the Holy Spirit. But God's love for us is also the love of the Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul is asking the Roman church to pray “through the love of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:30).
Today's New Testament text (Ephesians 4:25-32) is the end of Chapter 4. “Christian-to-neighbor relationship”. We are wary of vices toward our neighbors, and we are presenting the virtues that members of the church should strive for more with each other. 1) Put away lies and speak the truth (verse 25). 2) Even if you are angry, rule and live (verses 26 and 27). 3) Do not forget the life of almsgiving for the reward of your just effort (verse 28). 4) Do not let any unclean words come out of your mouth, but only speak good words that are useful for building up (verse 29). Verse 30 corresponds to the conclusion of the previous part. “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God. In him you are sealed until the day of redemption.” ‘Sorrow of the Holy Spirit’ is a response of love. We must avoid the obstacles to the filling of the Holy Spirit (extinction, deceit, temptation, and opposition). Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not a story of sorrow for the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:32; Mark 3:29), but it is an eternal sin.
