Title: Do not murder (Ex 20:1-13)
Contents The modern era has become more prevalent than ever before. In particular, I know that the correct answer to biomedical ethics, which is becoming a social problem today, must be obtained from the 6 Commandments.
(Glossary) Thou shalt not kill (13): deliberate and deliberate murder (active emphasis, imperfect imperative, meaning that one must not kill forever)
1. Murder that does not fall under this commandment There are many killings in the world, but not all of them fall under this commandment. What is the case? Not all wars of mass destruction first apply this commandment. War belongs to God's sovereignty, and a war of death for the purpose of justice is not murder (Deuteronomy 20:16,17).
Of course, the aggression of Kim Il-sung, Hussein, and Hitler is murder. Also, self-defense is not taken as murder (Exodus 22:2). Moreover, in many cases today, there are countries that advocate or practice the abolitionism of the death penalty, but legally the death penalty is not murder (Genesis 9:6). The Bible teaches that God cannot tolerate the sin of a person who takes the life of a human being made in his own image. Behind the scenes, animals and people should not be interpreted on the same level.
The killing of animals is not defined as murder (Genesis 9:3).
2. Murder that falls under this commandment Then, what is murder that falls under this commandment? Direct murder, namely suicide and murder, is the answer here (1 Corinthians 6:19,20). The second is indirect murder, which we tend to neglect. As one psychologist pointed out, worry, anger, and doubt are indirect murder when we have three murderous factors toward ourselves and others (Matthew 5:21,22, 1 John 3:15).
3. The way to keep this commandment God made human life more precious than the world in His own image. In particular, the saints belong to God, purchased with the price of Jesus' blood. If you know this love, you must obey his word and embrace your neighbor with that love (John 13:34,35). For this, let us long for the filling of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23). The best way to overcome jealousy, murder, and anger during this time is to preach Jesus Christ, the Lord of love.
We live in an age without love. May we overcome the tragedy of this age in which we live in curses and hatred, the Holy Spirit stirs us, and peace and peace overflow within us.
