Title: Do not quench the Holy Spirit
do not quench the Spirit
Text/ 1 Thessalonians 5:19, Ephesians 4:30
1. Introduction
Today, we are going to share grace while meditating on the topic of “Do not quench the Holy Spirit.” The Holy Spirit, who is one of the Trinity of Father-Son-Holy Trinity, is the Spirit of God-Jesus Spirit-Counselor-Spirit of Truth-Spirit of wisdom and understanding-Spirit of counsel and talent, History) - 交通 (transportation) - 引導 (India) - 指導 (map).
The Holy Spirit, who appears throughout the Old and New Testaments, moved with God on the surface of the water in the beginning (Genesis 1:2)-Presence like dew (Hos 14:1-9)-Presence like a rushing strong wind and tongues of fire (Acts 2:1) -3)-Presence like a burst of living water (Ezekiel 47, John 7:37-39)-Presence like a dove (Matthew 3:16, John 1:32)-Presence like oil (Acts 10:38)-Presence like a seal (Ephesians 1:13, 2 Corinthians 1:22) She is like a mother who is infinitely merciful without any wrath, and if you look at the lyrics of hymns 182-197, you can see who the Holy Spirit is.
Therefore, the Bible tells us not to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. Jesus' warning is particularly severe.
2. Warning against blasphemes against the Holy Spirit
*Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in me; do not cast me out from your presence, nor take your Holy Spirit from me (Psalm 51:10-11)
*Unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5).
*I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you forever, who is the Spirit of truth, and the world cannot receive him, for it neither sees him nor knows him, but you do not know him. He dwells with you and will be in you (John 14:16-17).
*Whoever blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, but will be condemned to eternal sin (Mark 3:29).
*Therefore I tell you, all sins and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven; will not be forgiven (Matthew 12:31-32).
* Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed until the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30).
* Do not quench the Holy Spirit, or despise prophecy, but count in all things, and take the good, and forsake all the appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22).
*But the Holy Spirit plainly says that in the latter days some will turn from the faith and follow deceitful spirits and teachings of demons. They are liars with hypocrisy, whose conscience has been scorched (1 Timothy 4:1-2).
3. How do we quench or grieve the Holy Spirit?
first. The Holy Spirit wants worship in spirit and truth. But we grieve and quench the Holy Spirit by following the traditions of this world and church organization.
For some reason, the crying stopped at the church. Laughter, chatter, gestures, and loud noises such as night stages increased. If you go to church, revival, revival, evangelism, evangelism, the temple of the Lord, which should be the most peaceful, has become the most intense and tiring place. The church is full of fighters. The king of evangelism, the king of service, the king of Tongdok...there are so many kings...it has become a place where decisions have to be made in a short period of time as if in business. Repentance, where can you afford to repent? Just running, running, revival, revival, evangelism, and evangelism, the church lost its silence...not even a saint. We are all cheaters - hypocrites - actors. The church has been running like a mad cow. So it's like a dynamic church...
second. The Holy Spirit wants us to live by bearing the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, mercy, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. However, like tree frogs, we follow the desires of the flesh by fornication-dirty things-sensuality-idol worship-craftsmanship-making enemies-bonsai-envy-anger-partisanship-separation-heretics-envy-drunkness-debauchery, etc. It grieves and consumes the Holy Spirit by living in the exact opposite of what He wants.
third. We, who live in the present age, are brainwashed with thorough individualism such as economic firstism-scientificism-preparation for old age, not knowing the fear of God's judgment in infinite competition-not listening to the plight of our neighbors, and saying, "Enough as long as I live well!" Armed with arrogance and prejudice,
But, nevertheless, the Holy Spirit said in a gentle voice like dew-like a raindrop-like a clear spring, “Son, it is right to do God with all your heart, mind, strength, and devotion. Also, it is the duty of man to be considerate and love your neighbor!” He does.
So, as brazen and arrogant as millstones, we, too, sometimes say, "Yeah, right, there's something wrong with living like this!" do. It is. Living like this is a bad life. We must quickly prepare our own sacred space and time and restore our love for God by meditating on the Bible + hymns. If the word of God permeates into me like that, my interest and consideration for my neighbors will naturally increase little by little.
When we come to such realization, we pray, “Holy Spirit, I am sorry for grieving you and quenching your will.” I don't know what happened!" You will.
