Why does God require His people to obey His Word? Is it demanding blind obedience without any condition or cause? It never is. He wants us to obey for our happiness. (10:13)
(Deuteronomy 10:13) Will you not keep the commands and ordinances of the Lord, which I am giving you today for your happiness
Then, what are the blessings of the saints that can be enjoyed through obedience to the Word?
1. You will have life (You will live)
We are talking about spiritual life, not physical life. The only way to gain true spiritual life is to obey the Word of God.
(Leviticus 18:5) Keep my ordinances and my ordinances; if a man does it, he will live by it.
Yahweh
Therefore, Jesus Christ, who came to this world as the Word became flesh, expressed Himself as the way and the life. (John 1:14, John 14:6)
2. Entering the Promised Land and Enjoying it
In order for the Israelites to conquer Canaan, it was required to prepare an army and to be armed with good weapons. Only obeying the word of God was required. Let's not forget that the secret to inheriting the kingdom of heaven prepared by God is also in 'obedience'.
3. Full of wisdom and knowledge
True and eternal wisdom and knowledge come from the Word of God.
For the fundamental purpose of the law is to fear God, and the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge. (Proverbs 1:7)
Ultimately, the way to salvation, blessings, and wisdom lies in obeying God's Word.
It was not because of lack of food or lack of knowledge that the first generations of the Exodus did not inherit the promised land of Canaan and died in the desolate wilderness.
Only the obedience to God's Word is the key to life and death, blessings, curses, wisdom and folly.
