Title [2010] Do You Have It? exist?

(1 Kings 21:17-19)
Erich Fromm, a psychologist, psychoanalyst, and psychiatrist who was born in the United States in 1900, wrote “Have or To Be”, a book that was read a lot by young people in the late 70s. In this book, Fromm divided people into two broad categories: possessive humans and existential humans. Possessive people are humanoids who are dedicated to taking possession of property, status, and power, while existential humans are humanoids who live in pursuit of the meaning of their lives. In other words, it is a desirable image of a person who puts his or her identity in existence rather than possession. Are you possessive? Is it existential?
Why did King Ahab fall? because of greed. James 1:15 “When lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” Many people, like King Ahab, covet and perish. What happens when you have a lot of greed?
First, as greed increases, the lust of the eyes increases. Verse 1 “Naboth had a vineyard in Jezreel, and it was close to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.” King Ahab stayed in the royal palace of Samaria and stayed in Jezreel where the summer residence was. When he looked outside, he saw Naboth's vineyard. Because the vineyard was the inheritance of our ancestors, it was a well-maintained vineyard, and the more he looked at these vineyards, the more King Ahab wanted to own it. Desire comes from seeing. In Genesis 3, Eve said, “And when Eve saw the tree, that it was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eye, and that it was a tree desirable to make one wise… ” As a result, they eat and eat and commit the sin of disobedience. A Christian must be able to control what he sees and be temperate. Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart” I pray that you will become shepherd saints who guard your eyes and your heart.
Second, when greed increases, people become vulgar. If you are blinded by greed and lose your mind, you will become ugly. King Ahab became ill while coveting Naboth's small vineyard. It wasn't because I didn't have enough. Because I wasn't satisfied. Ahab sinned because he was led by lust. If you don't know how to be grateful, you will feel inadequate even when you have a lot, and you will lower your standard of living and make it ugly. King Ahab lost the big things for the little things. We lost our country while being attached to a small vineyard that cannot be compared to the country. We are the people of heaven who have inherited the kingdom of God. I hope that we can learn contentment and gratitude from Paul. (Philippians 4:12, 4:18, Luke 12:15)
Third, when greed grows, it leads to murder. (Heb) the land that Naboth inherited from his fathers”
