Title: Do You Want to Get Better?

Bible Text: John 5:1-9
do you want to get better
It is difficult to endure hunger. Moreover, how sad it is to be starving for lack of food. But there are people who do not eat even though they have food. I am a person who diets for health and a slim body.
A person who has a strong appetite and has good digestion will have a better appetite the more he eats. When you eat what you want, it becomes blood and flesh. However, if you suppress your appetite and succeed in becoming healthy and slim, you are the victor in your battle. Appetite is an instinct. Those who control their instincts and control themselves can achieve happiness and success in life. He is the one who healed himself. You have achieved what you want. Jesus asked the 38-year-old patient, “Do you want to get well?” He healed a 38-year-old man. What should I do?
Stay in Bethesda!
He stayed in Bethesda. Bethesda is a pond near Jerusalem. Many sick people are gathered by the pond. They are there to heal. The meaning of the word Bethesda is “house of grace” and “house of mercy”. Why the House of Grace? Angels sometimes come down to make the water move, because when the water moves, the first person to jump in is healed.
Among the many patients staying there, a 38-year-old man caught the eye of Jesus. Among the many patients, that patient came into the eyes of Jesus. Bethesda was to him a house of grace and a house of mercy. Because he was there, he was able to meet Jesus who came there. If it wasn't there, I wouldn't be able to meet Jesus and receive grace.
He was an outcast. It's been hard for 5 or 10 years, but I've been in the hospital for 38 years, so who likes it? Neither his parents nor his brothers looked after him. It is said that he had been at the pool of Bethesda for so long that he saw the water boil. There was no one to put him there when the water moved. He had no family by his side. He was slowly dying there. But he is staying in Bethesda.
One Sabbath, Jesus went into the Jewish synagogue, and there was a man with a withered hand. Jesus said to the man, get up, come to the middle, and stretch out his hand. He stretched out his hand and his hand was restored (Matthew 12:9-10,13). Because he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath, he met Jesus and had the grace to heal his hand.
Bethesda is a temple. The temple is the house of grace and the house of mercy. Staying here is a blessing. As Jesus ascended into heaven, he commanded “...Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard from me. John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:4-5). They did not leave Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit came upon them as they gathered to pray.
He received the mercy of God in the House of Mercy. I received the grace that God gave me through Jesus. Believers must stay in the temple to receive grace. Not that the Jews kept the Sabbath, but the Sabbath kept the Jews. I hope you stay in Bethesda. Only then can you receive grace and receive healing. May this be your Bethesda. It is a place of receiving grace, a place of receiving change.
His body was restored. Jesus healed him. His illness was caused by sin. Jesus healed him and said, “Behold, you are well; sin no more, so that nothing worse happens” (verse 14).
Aspire to be healed
The 38-year-old man was healed as a result of his yearning for healing. Not 10 years. Not 20 years. I have been waiting for 38 years without giving up. It was 38 years of hardship. I have lived for a long time with a desire to get better. He never gave up until the very end.
To become a morning person, it is said that for at least 100 days, you must develop the habit of sleeping at 11pm and waking up at 5am. It takes at least 100 days to change a habit.
When a child is born, a feast is held on the 100th day. I want to congratulate you on having grown up without any problems for 100 days and wish you good health in the future. According to the Dangun myth, it takes 100 days for a bear to become a human. A tiger that could not endure 100 days did not become a human, and a bear that survived 100 days became a human. Eggs have to wait 3 weeks before they become chicks. A slug spends 10 years in the ground before becoming a cicada. The life of a cicada is that the slug, which has been waiting for 10 years, becomes a cicada and sings for only 10 days.
Unsuccessful people lack patience. I can't stand the scolding of my boss, I can't stand working late, and I throw my resignation. Those who give up do not attain, and those who give up do not achieve. It takes some patience and patience to get there and achieve it.
True patience comes from hope for the future. Hope is the beginning and end of the achievement of a goal. It takes aspiration to achieve something. Nothing is accomplished without aspiration.
A 38-year-old man had a desire to heal. Look at the eyes waiting for the water to move by the pool of Bethesda. Jesus said to him, do you want to be healed? When he asked, “Lord, when the water moves, there is no one to put me in the pool; while I am going down, someone else goes down first” (verse 7). please fix me It is a sad expression. “There is no one to put me in the nail… Someone else is going down.” Where there is aspiration, there is healing.
Take your seat and walk
do you want to get better “Jesus said to him, Arise, pick up your mat, and walk!” (verse 18).
I command you to get up! It tells you to get up from a sick bed. To the dead, “Daldagum! Girl, wake up!” You did. I need to get up and not lie in the seat of the disease that harms me.
To like poison that harms oneself is called addiction. Addiction likes things that are bad for you. Computer addiction is rampant in China these days. There are students who do not go to school and are locked up in a PC room for 6 months. He was cured of poisoning with an electric shock, and a person killed him. Alcoholics only drink alcohol. It's okay to die while drinking, I'm screaming for a drink. The scary thing about addiction is that it paralyzes your will.
Take your seat and get up! Get rid of the bed you are lying on! It is about clearing the past. Asking the patient to remove the place where he was lying
Take your seat and walk! It is to get out of a 38-year-old sick bed and live a healthy life. Don't get caught up in the past. It's about taking control of your life. When I see a place to lie down, I want to lie down. It's about taking a place to lie down.
Faith is important. Faith heals me. What is Faith? Faith is believing in your heart and not doubting that it will come true.
Bartimaeus, blind, sitting by the roadside, when he heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out. “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus said, “Stand and call on him.” The disciples said, “You are called.” The blind man threw off his cloak and jumped up and went to Jesus. Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see you.” Jesus said, “Go, your faith has saved you.” Immediately he saw and followed Jesus on the road (Mark 10:46-52). This is faith.
There was a patient with obsessive compulsive disorder named Melvin. When he walks down the street, he only looks at the floor and tries not to step on the crevices of the sidewalk blocks. When I go to a restaurant, I don't use the restaurant's spoon, but I carry my own spoon. When you return, wash your hands two or three times with fresh soap and discard the soap. But things start to change when Melvin falls in love with a girl named Carol, a restaurant worker. It was getting better.
On one occasion, Melvin thanked Carol and said: “I have a disease that needs to be cured, and the doctor said that if I take medicine, I get better. But I hate drugs. I, who hates drugs, started taking drugs after I met you.” When Carol said, "What's so good about that?" she said, "You gave me the wish to be a better person."
The wish to become a healthy person, the wish to become a better person is grace. God makes a wish and makes it happen. If you have a wish to get better, a wish to become a better person, your wish will come true.
“Soon the man was healed, and he picked up his bed and walked” (verse 9). He got up and walked out, taking up the bed he had been dependent on. We cannot be prisoners of the past. You cannot settle for the present. There must be holy grievances. There must be hills to conquer, and there must be flags to wave. Those who cannot walk should want to walk. Those who do not have should want to have. The 38-year-old man was able to recover because he wanted to be healed.
The Lord asks us, “Do you want to get well?” Get up, pick up your bed and walk!
A woman had a habit of tearing paper when she saw it. I went to see a psychiatrist. still not fixed. Then one day the doctor said. “Do not tear the paper!” After hearing that, I stopped barking at the paper. Do not worry! Don't be resentful!
do you want to get better? wake up! Take your seat and walk!
