Title: Don't Rely on Life
Contents Hymn 540 “This world has passed”, Chapter 541 “Across the Jordan”
Chapter 2 of Isaiah is a prophecy about the future of Jerusalem as seen by Isaiah, and records the judgments that will take place on that day.
Saints who completely depend on the Lord! What kind of people do you trust and root out the source of your anxiety or anxiety? When the people of Jerusalem showed their confidence in power, wealthy economy, idolatry, administration, and organization, Isaiah son of Amos said, 'Do not depend on life, for his breath is in his nose. Where is it worth?' (Isaiah 2:22).
First, the future of human beings is determined by Jehovah (Isaiah 2:1-11).
All life gathers the economy out of concern for the future, accumulating power in various fields such as power, popularity, science, and technology. The people of Jerusalem in Judah, without exception, “do not often go into the presence of God and are indifferent to the word of the Lord.” And I had no hope in the day of the Lord or in the kingdom of the Lord, which the Lord foretold. They also turned away from the Day of Justice because of the perils and afflictions of constant warfare. Therefore, rather than practicing “the light of the Lord,” they perpetrated the treachery of holding hands with the customs of the East and the actions of magicians. He longed for the joy of silver and gold treasures enjoyed only by foreign people, and curiosity and longing for national defense. Therefore, Jehovah foretold their future with judgment and seeing Jehovah’s danger and glory.
Second, the judgment of those who depend on human life (Isaiah 2:12-22).
On the day of the Lord, judgment and glory occur at the same time. The prophet Isaiah spoke of who will be judged on that day. They are ① the proud, ② the arrogant, and ③ the arrogant. And the objects of judgment are ㉠ the cedars of Lebanon and the oaks of Bashan, and ㉡ high mountains and high towers. And ④ all the ships and all the sculptures of Tarshish, which are symbols of abundance. Therefore, on the Day of Judgment, it was prophesied that the idols of Jehovah the High alone would be completely destroyed, and that the silver and gold idols that men had made to worship would be buried in the habitation of moles and bats (Isaiah 2:20).
Dear saint! You must always have a good motive in heart to be recognized as the people of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:1-6). That united heart is the basis of the figure that shows the growth of faith. The things that life prefers are idolatry and basic posture. Also, expecting or longing for a prosperous life itself is the glory of those who have nothing to do with the Lord. Therefore, the work of the gospel carried out by the Lord Jesus… On that day, let's meditate on suffering and do not depend on people, but on the cross. -Amen-
Our Lord Jesus Christ! I would like to help the growth of the church aim for qualitative results (Luke 11:28) rather than numerical growth (Isaiah 2:22) (Psalm 37:1).
