Title: Don't Say Too Much
On Saegi (1311) Don't talk too much
(Matthew 5:33-37)
<Keep your promises hard>
Keeping promises is not easy. Sometimes it causes great wounds and losses. Still, the most beautiful appearance in the world is the appearance of keeping promises. Personality is built by keeping promises. In today's world, which is changing so quickly that you can't get out of your mind, there is a secret to living in abundance without losing your mind. It is living by relying on God's unchanging promises and keeping promises to God, to others, and to ourselves. If he keeps his promises, he will not get lost in any situation and his freedom and happiness will be expanded.
Breaking promises hurts the community. In fact, the family and the church are also unspoken communities of promise without laws. Keeping those unspoken promises keeps the relationship intact. Cultivate a trustworthy human image that keeps even the smallest promises. Even if you can't keep all your promises perfectly, God will add grace and blessings to your life and family only when you try to keep them.
If you easily forget your promises and promise something, then take off the shichimi as if you did when you did, the value of your personality will drop. Do your best to keep your promises, and become a person who doesn't need to swear by instilling the awareness that "That person is a person who keeps his promises!" The words of the saints are especially important. The listener will think “It must be true because it is the word of someone who believes in Jesus.” But if you do not keep it, Jesus, the church, and the saints will all be reviled together. Therefore, you should never use the word “before God…” and do whatever you say without lying or deceit, risking your personality.
<Don't talk too much>
How should I say it? See verse 37 of the text. “Only say what you say is right, right, and no, and what is beyond this is from evil.” This verse is not to use an oath as a rhetoric of words. Even without an oath, a person who clearly states “yes!” and “no!” and lives according to what they say is a person. Clement of Alexandria said: “Live so truthfully that you can’t even dream of asking for an oath!” A saint of the Essenes said the same thing. “Anyone who cannot give faith without an oath is already a very wrong person.”
Who are the martyrs? It is a person who gave his life because he could not tell a single lie, saying, “I do not believe in Jesus.” As such, take responsibility for what you say and try to keep it. I am often disappointed when I see people who pretend to use the name of God to avenue the truth and use God's name as an instrument, saying, "I command you in the name of Jesus!" Truth and promise are of the utmost importance. In particular, if you have made a promise before God, make an effort to keep it and build a holy personality that is not lacking in God's blessing.
Don't take your vows too carelessly. Then you will be lying unintentionally. People say, “God! If you listen to this prayer, what will I do for the rest of my life?” he vowed to the extreme. However, there are many times when it is not possible to keep that vow. So God will be worried. If you listen, it will only increase the number of lies. If you don't listen, it's pitiful... Please refrain from saying things that are highly likely to become unintentional lies. If you lose your credibility by saying a lot like that, you won't get help when you're really desperate.
Wrong vows that only aim at answering short-term prayers prevent true answers to prayers and blessings. Therefore, don't focus too much on answering prayers, and try to be truthful with God first. When he has a sincere life and a life of language without bankruptcy, the words and prayers that come out of his lips will become powerful words and prayers.
God has given tremendous blessings of salvation in the past and promised great blessings in the future. It is no coincidence that we are here. God has already planned all the blessing journeys for us from before the foundation of the world. Within us are the seeds of wonderful blessings. The optimal attitude to germinate the seed and make the possibility of blessing a reality is the attitude to keep promises. A believer must be good at 'a life of believing in promises' but also a good 'life of keeping promises'. When you hold on to a promise and further keep it, that promise sooner or later becomes a reality.
Don’t be just a ‘promise-keeping person’, but be a ‘promise-keeping person’. People who are good at making promises tend to forget their promises. Such lightness becomes a fatal weakness that stifles the promised future. Make your promises carefully, but do your best to keep the promises you make once. Also, don't neglect small promises. If you keep small promises, you gain credibility by giving them the belief that they will also keep big promises. In particular, the ‘promises we made before God’ are as important as ‘the promises God made to us’. When you remember that promise, you gain amazing creativity, and when you put that promise into practice, you gain amazing connections and leadership.
