Title: Double Inspiration (2 Kings 2:6-14)
Compared to the past, the teacher's authority and respect for the teacher have cooled a lot, and the teacher
The passion for love and devotion to him has cooled a lot.
In Christian education, the Sunday school of the church includes spiritual interest and salvation between teachers and students.
There is uncertainty and the church is being mobilized in more secular and secular ways, so teachers and students
The trust between them is almost broken.
However, in 2 Kings 2 that I read today, I can meet a great teacher and a disciple.
These are the teacher Elijah and the disciple Elisha.
Elijah was a prophet who sought God's judgment against King Ahab's fall and idolatry.
He was a man who had the power and gift of God to make and stop the rain.
And when there was no rain and there was a drought, God through the ravens morning and night
He gave Elijah food to eat.
“The ravens brought bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
Dunn" (1 Kings 17:6)
And Elijah prayed to God when the widow's son was sick and died.
It was the person who received the answer, and he called 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah to Mount Carmel.
He was a spiritual victor who won the spiritual battle by praying to God.
But Elijah had anguish and conflict.
When Elijah constantly shouted and preached the gospel, but more and more hardships and sufferings came upon him.
Sitting under a broom tree and pessimistic (2 Kings 19:4), begging death, he said,
[O LORD, take my life now] and cried out (2 Kings 19:4), and I was the only one left.
They confessed their loneliness, saying that they would seek and take my life. (2 Kings 19:10)
But Elijah heard the voice of God in such a difficult time.
A good disciple was produced from such a good teacher, who is Elisha.
1. A teacher who teaches by life, a disciple who learns by life (2 Kings 2:1-2)
The beauty of expression should be the content and change of life. An effective teaching is a word and a life.
should match
A leader's name and authority alone cannot impress anyone.
2. A disciple who obeys the spiritual teachings of the master
"Elijah said to him, Elisha, please stay here. Elisha said, "I
I will not leave you” (2 Kings 2:4).
A disciple must have the confidence to respect his master and follow his teachings.
A teacher who teaches by his or her feelings or emotions makes a weak student, a submissive student.
3. A disciple who inherited his master's abilities
“Elijah took his robe, rolled it up, and beat the water, and the water split to and fro, and the two
crossed over land” (2 Kings 2:8).
"...Elisha picked up the cloak that had fallen from Elijah's body and returned...
He took his cloak and beat the water... and the water split to and fro, and Elisha crossed over."
(2 Kings 2:13)
4. Teachers and disciples who share spiritual things rather than worldly knowledge and wisdom
"Elijah said to Elisha, "Before you take me, what shall I do with you?
save Elisha said, "I ask that you have double your inspiration."
(2 Kings 2:9)
5. Master and disciple with glory to the end
“The two were walking and talking, and suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire struck them both.
Elijah ascended into heaven in a whirlwind” (2 Kings 2:11).
