Title: Dreams make the way

dreams make the way

Text: Psalm 146:5

"Blessed is he who makes the God of Jacob his help, and whose hope is in the LORD his God."

In the 1940s, a young New Zealander named Edmund Hillary attempted to conquer Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, but failed. On his way down, he left this famous saying: “San, you are not growing. But I will grow up. My skills, my strength, my experience, and my equipment will grow. i come back And I will stand on top of you.”

About ten years later, on May 29, 1953, he and two other climbers reached the summit of Mount Everest for the first time in history.

Don't give up on your dreams once or twice. God-given dreams are sure to come true. Failure is the most common experience in life. You shouldn't be afraid of failure. However, the big challenge is how to overcome failure and move forward toward a victorious future.

“But those who wait for the LORD will find new strength, and they will soar up on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary, they will walk and not get weary” (Isaiah 40:31).

Helen Keller, known as America's “three-year-old saint,” was born into a poor family with three disabilities: blind, deaf and dumb. However, he worked hard and studied hard, becoming the world's first blind and deaf person to enter Harvard University in the United States, and even received a doctorate degree. He also contributed greatly to social projects such as welfare for the deaf and the deaf, becoming a light in human history and giving hope and courage to many people.

The life of Helen Keller and the words he left behind touch us deeply. “The most unlucky people in the world are those without dreams,” he said. A blind person looks pitiful, but a person who does not have a dream and a vision in life is more pitiful and unhappy."

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith, so that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

The 20th President of the United States, James Garfield, dropped out of school at the age of 16 and nearly drowned while working on a canal boat. He returned home immediately, believing that God had spared him to do something better, but he contracted malaria and was bedridden for six months. But he did not give up on his dream. I worked as a carpenter's assistant at a technical school to earn my tuition, and while serving in a new church during vacation, I was baptized with the Holy Spirit and decided to dedicate myself to God's dream more and more. After graduating from college, he was elected to the Ohio State Senate at the age of 28, served as a commander in the Army during the Civil War, and became a U.S. senator after the war. And finally, in 1879, he was elected president by the Republican Party. The dream is to put a poor boy into the presidency. For those who have the dream of Canaan, the Red Sea or Jericho is not an obstacle but a road. Dreams make the way. People with dreams, individuals with dreams, never perish.

“O Sovereign LORD, you are my hope and trust from my youth” (Psalm 71:5).

This is the story of Grandma Myrtle Howell, told by Charles Colson, who organized a prison mission after serving as the right-hand man of former President Nixon and serving a prison sentence for the Watergate incident. Grandmother Howell grew up in poverty and only attended school for one year. She lost her husband and one child early, and had a hard life raising two children on her own. One day when I was over 90, my grandmother prayed.

“God! What do I do now that I am more alive? Take me.” Then I heard a voice in my heart: “Write a letter to the prisoners.”

Grandma asked, “How does an uneducated person like me do that?” But she obeyed her voice and wrote a letter to her Atlanta prison.

"Dear prisoner! I am a grandmother who loves you. I send you love and compassion for you in an unwanted place. I want to be friends with you. Write me a letter. I'll be sure to reply. From Grandma Myrtle." I wrote a letter like that, and at one time I had a pen pal with 17. It was hard work for a 91-year-old grandmother, but it paid off. I also received a letter saying, “Grandma, thank you for the letter! I am so happy that there is someone who cares. I will always think of my grandmother. Please reply to me, Joe Dream.”

Grandma Myrtle said that she had the happiest time of her life while pen pals with prisoners. Age and age didn't really matter when my poor grandmother, over 90, gave herself to a good cause.

Time is scary. Her beauty, wealth, and abilities also stand still in the face of time. Time is a strict teacher who tells you not to show off your strength. There is a secret to living vigorously in the face of such fearful times. The secret lies in 'dream'. Even if they are like nameless wild grass, those who give themselves to something precious like Grandma Myrtle are happy people. Through such happy people, the world is changed beautifully. Don't shrug your shoulders or bow your head when you think you're insignificant, and then look at "Is there nothing I can do?" If you know how to give yourself, miracles can happen even in a humble life. Without dedication, it becomes 'commitment' and is thrown away. A life of a parasitic who likes to receive heralds a ‘wonderful life’, and a life of sacrifice that likes to give heralds a ‘life of hope’. If you have a dream, you can make your dream come true.

“Truly, every man walks like a shadow, he dwells on vanity, he accumulates wealth, but he does not know who will take it.

The dream we should have is only in Jesus Christ. When we set the true direction of life in Jesus Christ, who is our goal, the true path of life is unfolding before us.

Where there is a dream, there is hope, there is effort, there is patience, love and generosity, and there is sharing. Dreams come true. Without dreams, there is no hope for tomorrow. If you lose your dream, you will lose your future as well. Let's become us who run hard with dreams. With the belief that 'dreams come true', let's all rise up and become saints who shine bright light.

“Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is upon you” (Isaiah 60:1).

I pray in the name of the Lord that all the saints look to God with faith and have victory in dreams and hopes.

* Prayer: God who looks at the heart of people rather than outward appearance, receive me because I long for you with all my heart. On my weakness, anoint me with the power of the Holy Spirit to be a minister of the gospel, and help me to meet and work with co-workers of faith. Since you have given me a vision, I want my dreams to be properly used to accomplish the will of God in your time and in your way. Even when the process of life is difficult to bear, help me to fully look to God who is making my dreams come true. We pray in the name of Jesus, who is our hope. Amen
