Title: Ecclesiastes 10 "Folly leads to defeat"
Ecclesiastes 10 “Folly leads to defeat”
Solomon confessed in Ecclesiastes that everything in the world apart from the fear of God is in vain. Solomon here confesses that human folly is vain and harmful. In fact, humans are stupid.
1. Ignorance ruins wisdom and honor (1).
Little fools spoil the big ones. A little foolishness (stupid words or deeds) often ruins a person or his family. The political world and the business world are telling us this. As a dead fly stinks with incense oil, so a little foolishness leads to defeat with wisdom and honor. All Israel was defeated by Achan's small foolishness of greed.
2. The mind of a fool is always on the left side (2).
The mind of the wise always points to the right side, that is, the right side, but the mind of a fool always points to the left side, that is, the wrong side. A wise person is always grateful and happy when dealing with people or the world, but a fool is always dissatisfied and angry.
3. A fool lacks sense (3).
A fool acts without sense when walking down the street or traveling. The phrase "lack of wisdom" here means "lacks sense". That is, there is no common sense. It means that they insist on doing what is good for them without consideration or concession to others. And they proudly stand up for their own foolishness and even claim that others are foolish.
4. A fool becomes even more angry when he leaves the room when something resentful arises (4).
A wise man does not leave his seat even when he is angered, but instead takes an honest attitude and breaks the heart and bones of the person who is angry, whereas a fool makes a fuss while making a fuss, and he gets angry.
5. A fool wants to achieve a very high position (5-7).
This is a pitiful thing, and it is a bad thing (evil) to see under the sun.
6. A fool digs a trap, and eventually he falls into it (8-9).
A fool digs a trap, breaks down a wall, or removes stones to harm others, but rather he is harmed by it.
7. A fool tries to do something without preparation and ends up ruining it (10-11).
8. A fool says a lot of foolish things (12-15).
A fool makes a lot of words to express his thoughts and assertions. Do not be considerate of others or say kind words that are beneficial to others. Rather, only exaggerated or false statements that expose the faults of others. They sometimes say pretentious things as if they knew everything about the future. But such words swallow him up, drive him crazy, and make him a gossip. And make yourself tired.
9. A fool is lazy and looses his appetite to eat (16-19).
If you like to eat and are lazy and loose, your home will be ruined and your country will be ruined. It would be foolish to enjoy contact and do everything with money.
10. A fool curses and curses others (20).
But the birds of the day hear his words and pass it on to others.
