Title: Education of God (Hos. 05:1-7)
Contents Introduction 1) The image of Israel introduced in today's sermon is, in one word, the culmination of despair: "I will not return to God." In order to lead these people to God, Hosea first tried to separate them from the tempters. But the people rebelled like a stubborn cow.
2) They made friends with idols and rebelled against God. This is very similar to the situation we are in today.
3) Modern people are making full use of the highly civilized era. State-of-the-art equipment is being made, and even more excellent new products appear. New theories are constantly being created. And I am passionate about learning. However, when someone evangelizes, "God is the master of this world," people treat it as if they saw a strange person. ridicule the evangelists.
Indeed, modern people have reached a state of spiritual incapacity to the extent that it is difficult to "convert". Today, we live in the same age as Hosea.
4) Toward this world, Hosea proclaimed the word of God. "God has not abandoned you! So come back soon." The Lord does not give up even the prodigal son that people have given up on. As a father educates his son, so he educates his people. Proverbs 19:18 says, “Discipline your son while there is still hope.” Although there is no hope in our eyes, there is hope in God's sight. This is the hope of all of us. God is still looking for souls who have given up because they cannot turn back. how do you find
I. He warned the leaders (1-3a).
A. He spoke to three types of leadership.
1. He rebuked the priests in charge of worship, the elders in charge of the area, and the royal palace, which was the ruler.
2. They dug a deep trap for the people. In order to increase their income, they hired Moabite prostitutes in a sanctuary on the eastern border of Jordan to promote the entertainment industry through prostitution. As a result, it was the direct cause of the people's departure from God.
3. Instead of protecting God's people and guaranteeing God-given rights and freedoms, they took their freedom and life away from them.
B. God judges leaders.
1. The Lord reminded us of the importance of responsibility through the parable of ten minas (Luke 19:11). Luke 12:48 says that from those who have received much, much will be found, and from those entrusted with much, much will be asked.
3. Are we really fulfilling our roles as both salt and light? Just as a person eats salt to find water, it is natural to long for the word of God, the eternal living water, through our appearance, but what is the reality?
4. First, let's keep in mind that we have judgment. If we do not glorify the Lord, people will reject the gospel because of our deeds. What is this but digging a trap
II. It exposes the consequences of wrong behavior (3b-5).
A. God allows you to understand yourself.
1. Israel was defiled with fornication, just as the leaders taught. God made them reap what they sowed.
2. As a result of ignoring God's Word and teaching them how to systematically worship idols, the people lost their knowledge of God.
3. Human behavior is the result of conscience. However, it cannot be found in humans who have departed from God. only inhuman.
B. Sin deprives us of all liberty.
1. Sin makes people proud, and pride prevents them from meeting God.
2. They said they stumbled because of their sins. When the wicked sin, he ensnares himself.
3. Is the world ridiculing the church or fulfilling its original role faithfully? However, it cannot be said that the church has fulfilled its original mission. The church must set an example before blaming the world for falling into mammonism. However, the church cannot be proud of using materials correctly. Although it is said that urban churches help rural churches, they are very formal.
III. He disciplines (6-7).
A. God ignores the sacrifices of rebels (6).
1. He said that he would lead the flocks and cattle to seek the Lord, but would not find them. This is God's first act of pointing to the irreversible.
2. More important than sacrifice is to listen to God's Word. I must first listen to what God is saying to me. The act of trying to buy a heart by giving a gift to God is the attitude desired by a foreign god. God is a gift-giver to us.
3. The Lord first granted a sacrifice for us (the atonement of Jesus Christ).
4. The Lord wants us to listen to and meditate on the Word proclaimed through the evangelists. “Son of man, the Lord has shown you what is good” (Micah 6:8).
B. They gave birth to illegitimate children (7).
1. This illegitimate child is a child born through union with an idol.
2. It was said that the earth was swallowed up. A swarm of locusts devouring every field came upon us. This is the bond of God's love for them.
3. Since their intellect has already lost control, they cannot return to God by their own will. Therefore, God brings them back through suffering.
4. Our physical suffering and material poverty train us to hear the word of God.
Conclusion Korea is currently in a period of “economic crisis”. Who is responsible for that? Does it belong to God? It is a human responsibility. As in today's text, it is the leaders' fault in the first place. Politicians have made a mistake. On the other hand, there is also the responsibility of the church for not being able to say what it ought to say to the world. Suffering is the wrath of God. But let us know that it is not wrath to kill us, but wrath to save us.
