Title: Endure Even This (Luke 22:47-53)

Contents

It is said that people usually regret three things in life. The first is the regret of living a more enjoyable life. We live our lives by being annoyed and complaining that it is okay to laugh. The second is the regret of living with more giving. It is material that will disappear anyway, youth, and time, but only after it is gone, I regret what I bought without being able to share. And the third biggest regret is regret for not being more patient. I don't know how many people live their lives making things they will regret for the rest of their lives because they can't stand the moment.

Through this time today, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will have a precious time to change your life that you regret because you can't bear it while pondering the Lord's words to "be patient with this."

Just before today's text, the Lord said to His disciples, "Even if you sell your coat, buy a sword." But the disciples did not understand the meaning of those words. Why do I have to sell my coat to buy a sword? Gree, "Here are two knives." He said and held out his sword. Seeing this, the Lord was frustrated and ended the conversation by saying, “Enough is enough.” The word of the Lord was to keep in mind that the tribulation, persecution, and threat that would come to the disciples in the future would be severe, and to prepare for that time, equip yourself with the Word and prayer. He said to protect the soul and the faith with the prepared sword, the Word and prayer. However, the disciples did not understand the deep meaning of the Lord.

In the end, we can see Peter, one of the disciples, who could not understand what he was saying, clamoring for work. There are times when I feel frustrated as if I didn't really understand what I was saying.

As a sign of Judas Iscariot's abominable kiss, the soldiers of the high priests and the soldiers guarding the temple roughly grabbed Jesus and tried to tie him up with a rope. At this time, the disciples must have been thinking about Jesus' words about the sword. And at that moment, he must have thought that it was time to use the two swords they had now. So, a disciple asked, “Lord, can I use the sword now?” Peter, who was impatient, drew his sword and cut off the ear of Malchus, the servant of the high priest, and fell to the ground.

But at that time, I thought I would be praised, but the voice of the Lord rebuked Peter. “It is not the sword I told you to prepare,” Jesus said to Peter, giving the horse’s ear that fell to the ground and healing him. "Hold on to this"

Even though Peter's actions were justifiable, He said, "Be patient with this." Even if you say it is for you, Lord, you have said it. "Hold on to this"

Now the disciples have good reason to draw their swords. If we had been disciples of Jesus, we would not have been able to stand still if we had been there. He must have drawn his sword. But rather, it is the fact that the Lord is telling them, "Be patient with this."

When we hate someone, we may have good reason to hate it. And every act of terror, killing, and aggression must have a cause. But if we admit all the reasons, no one will be alive on this earth. The whole world will become a world of sword fighting.

Indeed, some of us may have good reasons to take up the sword of hatred against some, like Peter. You may also have good reasons to never be reconciled to someone. "That's the only person I can't forgive. What did you do to me? I can never forgive him." We can have these thoughts, "I've been patient enough, not anymore, I can't do this until dirt gets in my eyes." But now our Lord speaks to us like a judge dismissing a case. "Be patient with this."

The cross our Lord carried is the cross of forgiveness of God who endured for a reason. The precious blood that the Lord shed is the precious blood that was shed for a reason. We have sinned, and our Lord was whipped, bled and died on the cross. The place where the amazing love of the Lord who forgave the unforgivable is clearly engraved is the bloody cross on which the Lord was crucified.

Dear brothers and sisters, I pray in the name of the Lord that this hour today will be a holy time when all the unforgivable reasons and all the reasons that we cannot help but hate are broken in front of the cross. Today, I pray that this place will be a precious place to put it down, even though there are reasons to hate it, and enough reasons to pull out the sword.

Even today, in the church on this earth, there can be as many people as possible to serve God like Peter in the text. But the Lord warns. “Enough with this!” (verse 51). The script of redemption on the cross, written by God, contains the key of Christ, not the sword. It contains the cross and blood of Christ. If we misunderstand this, we are only acknowledging that we have not yet experienced the mystery of Christ's redemption.

Peter struck the ear of the one who came to arrest the Lord with the sword, but the Lord healed that as well. The Lord of love and patience for those who came to kill him, let's examine ourselves to see if we are trying to become more like him. I believe that we should look to the Lord, not to Peter with a sword, and to become more like Him.

Today we are creating a lot of problems due to a lack of patience.

Often, when you feel angry about your partner by saying or doing something you didn't expect or thought of at all, say "I've endured enough" and end the relationship. Make enemies. In fact, I don't know how many times I try to talk shit. It's not just once or twice that I feel like I'm being fooled, and I feel like I'm at a loss for why the other person is doing it but I can't.

However, at the very moment when you really think, 'You have endured enough,' you must remember the words, 'Be patient with this.' I should not end with my feelings and reason. I believe that the word of the Lord should be the final closing point.

These are the words of the Lord that we must endure even an abominable kiss, endure even when we want to attack with a sword, and endure until we bear the cross. But what about us?

I can't stand it well. That is, he is a sinner and his heart is willing, but his body is weak. However, the disciples could not bear it now, but soon they learned to endure it, and almost all of them became those who endured hardship and overcome until they were taken up on the cross.

However, if you are upset or angry, Jesus’ words to “be patient with this” come and go, but anger often takes the lead. So, in the end, I can't stand it and I do it. And I deeply regret it. This is the sequence. Many Christians lose their souls because they do not persevere. In Luke 21:19, He said, "By your patience you will win your souls."

Therefore, we must constantly reflect ourselves before the mirror of the Lord's Word, realize that we are sinners, and become those who draw closer to the Lord day by day.

Anyone can get angry, hate, and fight, but it is wisdom to live in the same world as a stranger and a foreigner as a saint to try not to bring that anger to you and to other people with destructive results.

President Thomas Jefferson is said to have played with these writings on the wall of his study. “If you are angry, count to ten, and if you want to kill, count to a hundred.” This method would also be fine. But a better word than that is the word of the Lord.

When you are very unbearable and your anger goes to the top of your head, I hope you will remember these words of the Lord. "Be patient with this" will be of practical help to young people.

Father Tertullian said, "A woman's perseverance makes a woman beautiful, and a man's perseverance makes a man worthwhile. The perseverance of a boy is loved, the perseverance of a young man is praised, and the perseverance of old age is respected."

Revelation 14:12 says, "Here is the patience of the saints, who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus." Patience is above all, keeping the commandments of God and faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that this is more blessed and better patience than perseverance in any life problem.

As we live in this world, there are a lot of things that get really angry. Sometimes anger arises. So you don't actually draw a knife, but you draw a knife in your mind many times. To those who are still fiddling with their opponents to draw their swords, to those who have already drawn their swords and held them high, or to those who have already slashed their swords and cut off their ears, to those who are holding knives of all kinds, Voice. It is the Lord's command. "Hold on to this" Amen?

This is how the English Bible interprets the saying, “Be patient with this.” "No more of this" means "Don't go any further than that. Stop there." Peter now cut off one of Malchu's ears. Had he left it alone, he would have undoubtedly cut off the rest of his left ear. Sooner or later, the right arm was cut off, the left arm was cut off, and the neck might have been cut off. This is what our Lord says to Peter. "Go no further. Stop there." Leave what has already been cut to the Lord and stop here. No more running with a knife.

Dear brothers and sisters, one of the brothers' ears has already fallen off. We must stop here. You must not go any further. You must make sure that there are no more horses in your life. In the name of the Lord, I pray that this time today will be a blessed time, when all hate, resentment, and bad feelings that are entrenched in us will stop forever by the power of the cross.
