Title: Enoch Walked with God

Contents

Enoch walked with God (Genesis 5:21-29)

In the Bible, there are only two people other than Jesus who ascended to heaven without dying. Enoch and Elijah. Among them, I would like to talk about Enoch. It is the great grace that God bestowed upon Enoch that God took Enoch to heaven without going through the process of death. And we can clearly see that Enoch was able to receive such grace because he walked with God.

1. What was the reason Enoch walked with God?

Enoch received the word of judgment from God. So he named his son Methuselah, meaning judgment. And like the words of Jude 1:14 and 15, he delivered the words of the revelation he had received. After receiving the word of judgment from God, he had no choice but to live a godly life. Enoch, who received that revelation and the Word, must have had no choice but to walk with God. When he received the word of God, he believed it. That's why Hebrews 11:4 says, "By faith Enoch was moved so that he should not see death." God, who revealed the judgment of the waters to Enoch, has also given us the written word today. At this time, we are also receiving the preaching word. Everyone! When you receive the Word, I hope you receive it by faith. Like Enoch, who received the word by faith, he will walk with God.

2. Why did Methuselah live the longest?

The prophecies of judgment and the end of the world were foretold through the birth of Methuselah and fulfilled through the death of Methuselah, so it can be seen that they were fulfilled after a period of notice for 969 years. But when Methuselah died, the Bible says that Noah's flood occurred and the world was judged. The fact that Methuselah became the longest-lived man at the age of 969 means that God delayed judgment by that much. This can read the sorrowful heart of God who waited until even one more person to turn back and prolong Methuselah's life. The Bible says in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow in his promise, as some consider slowness, but is patient with you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.” Even now, Jesus has not come yet and is waiting for us to give even one more chance of salvation. The delay of Jesus' second coming and judgment is because of God's mercy, and there is no other reason. I hope that the bridegroom will not be like the five foolish virgins who did not prepare their oil lamps just because they are late.

3. How did Enoch prepare for the end times?

Looking at the life of Enoch, who lived in preparation for the end in the Bible, it can be summarized in two ways. First, he walked with God. In the short passages of Genesis 5:22 and 24, it appears twice that Enoch “God walked with him”. The meaning of 'accompany' has the meaning of 'married', just as a husband or wife is called a companion. In other words, those who live consciously of the end are those who walk with God as a couple. Also, in the meantime, Enoch diligently bore children. Genesis 5:22 says, “I walked with God for three hundred years and gave birth to children.” In this verse, the life of walking with God and the life of having children are on the same line. Enoch knew this better than anyone. Therefore, when he realized the secret of the end, he did not abandon his wife and children and went to the prayer hall or underground chapel, but rather diligently be faithful to his family, love his wife, have and raise children like planting an apple tree, and faithfully dedicate every part of his life to God. That's what I was trying to give. This is the difference between today's false eschatologists and Enoch.

We, who are living in the age of the end times, must engrave the attitude of Enoch on our hearts. People who, like Noah, build the ark of faith in preparation for the last flood, but are faithful to their place of life like Enoch and walk with God in every way. is. I pray that the life of godliness that came to Enoch may also come true for you.
