Title: Ephesians 05:10-21 Awake and rise
Contents
wake up
1. God gave us physical sleep.
If you read Genesis, God made day and night, and made them active and working during the day, and sleeping at night to maintain their health.
No matter how tired your body is, if you get a good night's sleep, your fatigue will recover.
Physical sleep restores our health.
If you can't sleep, that's a sign of illness.
One of the worst diseases is the inability to sleep. When I look at people who have been infected with the disease, I have seen cases where they spend the whole night in white.
I saw a priest I know who suffered from insomnia for a while.
It is also a blessing to go to God's church and sleep.
How comfortable would it be to fall asleep? If you are anxious, you will not be able to sleep.
Some people are afraid and can't come to church.
However, you need to get enough sleep, too much sleep is also a problem.
If a patient in the recovery room doesn't wake up when they wake up, that's a big deal.
We need sleep, but we need even more to wake up when we wake up.
The Bible speaks of two sleeps.
One is physical sleep and the other is spiritual sleep.
Sleep relieves physical fatigue, but the more you sleep, the more harmful your spiritual sleep.
A deep sleep in spiritual sleep is evidence of a sick soul.
It means a state of being spiritually dull.
It refers to the state of being numb to a state of being unconscious.
It is said to be a piercing sword, but there is no sense of stabbing.
It is said that silver is like a double-edged sword, it cuts through the marrow, but there is no pain.
If so, that is evidence that you are in a spiritual sleep.
In the Bible, there is a man who fell asleep from a window on the second floor while listening to Paul's sermon and died. His name is Eutychus.
If you sleep too much, you may fall into an accident.
Today's text says, "You who sleep, rise from the dead."
The Bible calls a spiritual sleeper {dead}.
Just because the body has life and breathes does not mean that the spirit is alive.
The body is alive, but the spirit is dead. Therefore, wake up from your dead spiritual sleep.
Everyone!
What is the difference between a dead person and a sleeping person?
There is still the possibility of waking from sleep. It is like the state of being hazy by eating briquette gas.
It means to wake up from that sleep and wake up.
2. A person who wakes up is naturally awakened
What's the first thing you do when you wake up?
First of all, get up.
And you will examine yourself.
You will see yourself.
Isn't it about washing your face, putting on makeup, changing clothes, and leaving the house?
We repeat this every day.
This is called daily life.
Waking up means activity.
means to act.
This is also true in the spiritual life.
Our generation today is the dark generation.
What is done in the dark night?
“Do not partake of the fruitless works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
The things we do in secret are shameful to even say."
It's embarrassing to say that things are happening in the world these days.
What would all the events be like in the cities?
The Bible describes everything that is done in the dark night as shameful things.
One of those things was, 'Do not get drunk.'
This is because when you are drunk, your mind will naturally become hazy, and you will unintentionally engage in dark affairs. At the time of the Lord, the area of Ephesus was the main producing area of grapes.
He served the god who was the main god (酒神).
Everything that happens after drunkenness is shameful.
At first, people drink alcohol, and then alcohol eats people.
So you get addicted to alcohol.
Seeing people addicted to alcohol is insane.
I live my life thinking only about drinking.
So that life doesn't make sense. order is lost.
He gradually falls into despair.
I was told to wake up from this place.
And he told me to save time.
If you believe in Jesus, your mind will wake up and you will become a new person.
If you do that, your physical life will change as well.
They live in poverty, but rather lead a frugal life.
So believe in Jesus and find stability in your life.
But the problem is that it doesn't work for me.
Why would people live that way if it was their willpower? "You need to calm down..."
The problem is that it can't.
It is like a person who drank briquette gas, saying 'I need to wake up...' but my body does not move.
In this case, a fresh wind must enter him.
3. You must be filled with the Holy Spirit to wake up and begin to work
① First, if the wind of the Holy Spirit enters him, he will gain wisdom and understanding.
In Genesis 41, Joseph interprets the dream he had in front of Pharaoh. He said to his servants, "How can we obtain a man who has been moved by the Spirit of God like this?" And he entrusted all of his authority to Joseph and made him the prime minister of Egypt.
When the God of God is moved in this way, you will gain wisdom.
So you get the wisdom of life.
You will do business well.
You will also gain the wisdom to earn money.
You will be able to improve your economy.
② When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will know what you are doing.
1 Samuel 16:13 says, "Samuel took the horn of oil and poured it on him from among his brethren, and from that day forward David was greatly moved by the Spirit of the Lord." He said that he was greatly moved by this God of Jehovah.
From there, David gained the wisdom to rule the country. It succeeded in resolving the divided public sentiment.
Eventually, he became the king of the unified kingdom.
After that, Psalm 57:7-8 says, "My heart is established, O God, for my heart is established; I will sing and sing. Awake, O my glory, Awake, lyre, harp; I will wake up the dawn." I did.
What does 'I will wake up the dawn' mean?
It means that you know what you are going to do.
In other words, seeing a vision in a dark society.
This is what we need today.
Now, both inside and outside the country, we are in chaos and dark gloom.
A darkness that cannot clearly see ahead covers us.
Politically, economically, educationally, we are in the dark right now. In times like these, 'I will wake up the dawn!' is the time to have such missionaries.
③ When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you become a spiritual authority.
In Acts 4:36 it says, "There was a Levite from Cyprus, whose name was Joseph. The apostles called him Barnabas, or authority, and he had a field, and he sold it and brought the money and put it at the apostles' feet."
The early church was not as bright as we are.
It was a time of darkness.
It was a time when the early Christians had severe difficulties due to the worship of the emperor in Rome and information from the Jews. But Joseph, an islander born in Cyprus, sold what he had and offered it at the feet of the apostles.
This is not usually the case.
How hard must it have been for the islanders to come to the land? It means that he came up from the countryside and sold the land he had bought with all his hard work in Seoul and put it out in front of the church.
That's why the apostles called him Barnabas (authoritative).
Authority in the church comes from serving the Lord.
Authority in the church is not in the office of the world. No matter how high you are in the world, that doesn't make you authority in the church.
Authority in the church comes from sincere self-giving and dedication. No matter how poor you are, when you truly become a devoted and devoted person, you will recognize your authority.
This would be true for everyone in our office. The office of the church does not give authority.
Authority is when you can do things that others cannot even dare to do.
We're probably thinking to ourselves, "Yeah, I don't mind being an authority figure!"
"I can't do that!" Is there anyone who thinks so?
With that in mind, neither faith nor life nor activities change.
God is still looking for people who will unfold His great work.
I hope that we will not be struggling because of the problems of our barely living and living, and not become thugs in God's eyes, but we hope that we will be able to become dedicated people by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who can participate in God's grand plan.
I hope there will be many such young people.
Psalm 110:3 says, “In the day of your power, your people come to you like the dew of the morning, when your people rejoice and consecrate themselves in holy garments.”
The morning dew promotes the movement of life over all the earth. I earnestly hope that young Lord's workers who can save the country and nation will arise in our church. ♣
