Title: Ephesians 05:21 Save the time

Ephesians 5:15-21 Save time

All life is lived in time.

The difference between rich and poor can vary from person to person. There may also be differences in rank. There may also be differences between ignorance and ignorance. However, the same time was given to everyone 24 hours a day.

Time is fair to everyone without exception.

Time is a mysterious gift that God has given us. So time is not something I can create. Time is not something that can be mined from the ground like minerals. You cannot delay or stop this time. I can't advance this time just because I need it. You can't lend, borrow, or stock up on this time.

Time has no color. It has neither volume nor size. You can't see it, you can't hold it with your hand.

Time like this dominates people and binds them to time.

Today's text also tells us to save time.

Here, 'time' means an important time, a special opportunity.

Time is a passing opportunity. And that opportunity doesn't always exist. Once passed, today will never be found again.

Lost money can be recovered, but lost time cannot be recovered. Car tires can be regenerated, but time cannot. Even if we say goodbye to a loved one, we can meet again, but as these silently passing years pass, we will never be able to see each other again.

So David says this.

"In Your sight we are no different from our ancestors, so are sojourners and sojourners. Our days in the world are like a shadow, and we do not abide" (1 Chronicles 29:15).

Moses' prayer also said, "Our years are seventy, and if we are strong, we are eighty years old, but the pride of those years is toil and sorrow, and they go quickly, and we fly away" (Psalm 90:10).

Time is like an arrow.

It seems like yesterday that the day when we were clamoring for the millennium was already February.

Today, through the given text, I hope that it will be a precious time for you to receive great grace when you receive the word of God under the title of 'Save time'.

save time

1. Because the times are evil.

God has given life as a gift. This time is not forever. It's extremely limited.

Therefore, each of us must use the time given to us to do the best we can.

Saving time means seizing every opportunity.

The meaning of 'save' means 'to buy back' or 'to redeem'.

This means to buy the opportunity soon. It means making time your own.

Because the times are evil.

In today's text, the wickedness of times is referred to as drunkenness.

To describe the life characteristics of an unbeliever in one word, it can be said that it is a life of drunkenness and debauchery.

Drunkenness is a generic term for contact and pleasure in the world.

The word 'do not get drunk' recorded in verse 18 of the main text does not mean to check some alcohol, but rather to reject all the evil things in this world that occur with alcohol.

The intemperance, greed, quarrels, and debauchery in life caused by alcohol are bound to be bigger problems.

So, in today's text, it is pointed out that drunkenness itself is debauchery.

Here, 'debauchery' is the same word as 'debauchery' in the parable of the prodigal (Luke 15:13). The prodigal son returned to his father and said that he was 'the son who ate up his father's wealth with the prostitute' (Luke 15:30).

A life of debauchery will eventually lead to loss of all money, loss of health, and loss of all friends.

Those who are so drunk, those who are indulged in pleasure, and those who lead a debauched life are the ones who spare no time. He's a wasteful person.

So, in today's text, such people are defined as 'those without wisdom' (verse 15) and 'fools' (verse 17).

Their actions are truly ignorant. They do not think about the most valuable things and only focus on stimulating peripheral nerves.

Such fools waste their time. You waste all your time on useless things.

Also, fools waste material things. We invest for pleasure what we should use for God's sake and good works. As a result, you waste your own health as well.

We live in an era of evil times.

The Bible defines this generation as the 'unbelieving and rebellious generation' (Matthew 17:17) and the 'wicked and adulterous generation' (Matthew 12:39).

The result of a life without faith is only rife with rebellion, evil prevails, and sexual immorality.

The words to save time to the saints living in this generation are words that instill great awareness in us.

In this dark age, I pray that you will have the grace to engrave in your heart the Lord's words to 'save time'.

2. How to save time

Verse 15 says, 'Therefore, be careful what you do... ' he said.

It means to look carefully at what kind of life you should live as a saint. Those who try to do their duty as saints in this way are wise (verse 15).

A wise person is one who does not walk after the world and the flesh, but behaves worthy of God's calling. A wise man is one who makes the most of his time.

Verse 17 also says, 'Only understand what the will of the Lord is'.

Those who understand the will of the Lord and the will of God are the ones who can save time.

The Bible teaches in many places what the will of God is.

In 1 Thessalonians 4:3 it says, "This is the will of God, for your holiness, that is, abstaining from sexual immorality." In verse 5, it says, "Do not pursue lusts like the Gentiles, who do not know God."

God's will for the saints requires a holy life, not a lewd and prodigal life.

The will of God is also revealed in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

?ejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.??The meaning of saving time is to be zealous for spiritual things.

From the time we neglect spiritual things, we are already compelled to follow the customs of the world.

That's why today's text verse 18 says, "Do not get drunk with wine, for this is debauchery, but be filled with the Holy Spirit."

A life filled with the Holy Spirit is the life we should pursue.

So, what is a life filled with the Holy Spirit?

Just as a drunken person is controlled by alcohol, so in a person filled with the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit controls a person's thoughts, feelings, words, and actions.

A saint who is filled with the Holy Spirit is not deceived by the world, but turns his back on the world and sees the kingdom of heaven. He is a saint who does not risk his life for things on the ground, but concentrates his energy on finding things above.

How does the world respond to these Holy Spirit-filled saints?

When the Apostle Paul preached the gospel to Agrippa and Festus the governor, Festus said with a loud voice, 'Paul, you are crazy; your many studies are driving you crazy' (Acts 26:24).

Even though Paul is speaking truthfully and soberly, he treats unbelievers like crazy (Acts 26:25).

If we believe in Jesus but have not been treated like this by unbelievers, we need to take a look at ourselves.

In today's text, the state of being filled with the Holy Spirit is shown in three major ways.

Verse 19 says, ?peaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your hearts.??The saints have the praises of the psalms and the spiritual songs they sing in gratitude for the grace they have received. Those who sing these spiritual songs rather than worldly songs are those who are filled with the Holy Spirit.

And verse 20 says that it is a life of 'always giving thanks to God the Father'. The saints who can give thanks under any circumstance testify that they are saints filled with the Holy Spirit.

And in verse 21, we testify that a life of submission to one another out of reverence for Christ is a life filled with the Holy Spirit.

Believers in Jesus must obey and respect each other in the church.

When we pretend to be each other, the church is becoming secular.

Dear saints,

Today we have received the word of God to save time.

We live the same 24 hours a day. It is time to look at how many hours a day are devoted to spiritual activities, except for sleeping time, rest time, meal time, shopping time, going to the bathroom, and meeting time.

In order to save time, we must be diligent, not lazy, and serve the Lord with zeal (Romans 12:11).

In addition, one must be wary of disorderly life and maintain a regular life. If you don't sleep at bedtime and break the rhythm of your life, it will greatly interfere with your activities the next day.

We are living in a very evil time right now.

We are living in an era of glamor and temptation that, if we look closely, we cannot help but be buried in the world without even knowing it.

In the name of the Lord, I pray that all of us will become saints who can give more time for God and the church by sparing the years by being filled with the Holy Spirit.
