Title: Episode 7 of Jesus / Matthew 23:13

Contents

Introduction:

Matthew 5 records the proclamation of Jesus' blessing,

Matthew 23 records the wrath of Jesus.

The target of the fire is the hypocrites scribes and Pharisees.

Anger (удЇ) is 'wooai' ---- an emotion that combines wrath and sadness.

1. To those who block the gates of heaven

(Matthew 23:13) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you shut the gates of the kingdom of heaven before men, and you neither enter nor those who are about to enter.

2. To false converts

(Matthew 23:15) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you travel between sea and land to obtain one church member, and when they are born, you make them twice as many children of hell than you.

3. To the false swearers

(Matthew 23:16) Woe to you, blind guides, for you say, "If anyone swears by the temple, nothing happens, but if he swears with the gold of the temple, he will keep it." (Matthew 23:17) You fools and blind men, which is greater? Gold or the temple that sanctifies gold?

4. To those who forget the truth through formalism

(Matthew 23:23) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you pay tithes of mint, anise, and cumin, and have forsaken the weightier matters of the law: righteousness, mercy, and spirit. :24) You blind guide, you filter out the ephemera and swallow the camels.

5. To those who only clean the outside

(Matthew 23:25) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, who clean the outside of the cup and bowl, but inside they are full of covetousness and debauchery (Matthew 23:26) Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside, so If you do, the outside will be clean.

6. To those who are like whitewashed graves

(Matthew 23:27) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! They are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inside are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness (Matthew 23:28) Appears right, but inside is full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

7. To the hypocritical admirers of the prophets

(Matthew 23:29) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, you build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the tombs of the righteous, saying, (Matthew 23:30) If we were in the days of our ancestors, we (Matthew 23:31) Then you testify with yourselves that you are the descendants of those who killed the prophets (Matthew 23:32) Feed the sheep of your ancestors (Matthew 23:33) Serpents, the vipers (Matt 23:34) Therefore, I have sent you prophets and wise men and scribes, and some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues. (Matthew 23:35) Therefore, all the righteous blood shed on the earth will return to you, from the blood of Abel the righteous to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachia, whom you killed between the temple and the altar (Matthew 23:35). (36) Truly, I say to you, all these shall pass to this generation.
