Title: Escape from Depression
Contents
The Christian life is not always rosy.
Sometimes we encounter crises in life through tribulation, disease, and accidents.
At this time, we come to the Lord through that suffering.
Jesus promised abundant lives to those who follow him.
But a life of abundance does not mean a life free of tensions and conflicts.
Fears, worries, doubts, and boring lives often attack us.
In addition to these things, Christians also have to fight depression.
Christians, like everyone else, sometimes fall into terrible depression and discouragement.
The apostle Paul was no exception.
If you read his letters carefully, you will come across many times of a man who is discouraged.
The verse in the text is one of them.
The apostle Paul apparently felt his own misery.
Although it is difficult to understand the circumstances Paul was in, we can all share the same feelings about his depression.
We all say, "Oh, I'm miserable!" at least once. Because I have had the experience of crying.
Why was Paul discouraged? Why should we be discouraged?
1. Why are you depressed?
People become depressed because they think they are unimportant.
Feeling that you are worthless is ruining your own soul.
Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 24.
One of the biggest causes of suicide among adolescents is the feeling that they don't matter to anyone.
Many older people also live with the feeling that no one is aware of their existence.
It's hard for people to get out of depression when they have the feeling of "I don't matter".
Also, we tend to become depressed when we are not sure.
The reason many people don't live an abundant life is because they live in the disease of doubt.
Their characteristics are timid and past-oriented.
People who have lost confidence continue to have negative thoughts when they are in a difficult situation.
A lot of people say, "Oh, this is really scary! This is so terrible! I can't do anything in this situation! No odds! Too many difficulties!" Says.
Such negative thoughts breed despair.
The Bible tells us that confidence is very important.
Hebrews 10:35 says:
“Therefore, do not forsake your courage, for this will bring you great rewards.”
People destroy their self-confidence because they depend on their emotions rather than their will.
No one can live effectively in this world without self-confidence.
A Christian must not lose his confidence.
Because the Christian life is founded on the never-to-be-shaken, lasting and unbreakable God, the Father and Savior of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, when we live a life based on our emotions, we encounter a storm that destroys our convictions.
To long for God is to turn such a typhoon into a tailwind.
If we fail, we lose confidence and fall into depression.
2. How to get out of depression?
Recognize that God cares for us.
God made you who you are and loves you.
Jesus was crucified outside the city of Jerusalem by a loving and hostile world.
The cross on which he was dying was everyone's message.
The message of the cross was a way of saying that God loves us.
God loves us and is the only way to save us.
We gain meaning in life when we realize that we deserve to die, but He saves us and takes care of us.
Therefore, we come to know that we must live as holy people.
But we must admit that we must strive to live holy people.
The challenge of becoming a more holy person is not easy.
Our own sinful desires are frustrated because they force us to distance ourselves from the Lord.
He knew he was a child of God.
But I found it very difficult to do only good things.
A war was going on in his mind.
He says in Romans 7:15, "When I want to do good, I don't do it. And when I try not to do wrong, I end up doing it."
That's why Paul could have said, "O wretched man I am."
Let's take a look at Matthew 5, which can help you escape from this depression.
In these verses, there are guidelines to be followed in order to get out of depression and become happy.
"If anyone makes you go, go two miles. If anyone takes your cloak, give him your underwear. Love your friends as well as your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you" (verse 44).
This great sermon culminates in the next verse.
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect” (verse 48).
You could say, "It's hard to achieve, so hard!"
Christianity is not an easy religion.
But if you set lofty goals in your life, you will experience happiness that you cannot achieve in any other way.
You will have a wonderful life. Not only that, but you will be freed from discouragement.
The Lord has already given us everything we need to endure all things.
In 2 Corinthians 5:17 we read, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
What this means is that when a person receives Jesus Christ and places Him deeply at the center of his or her life, that person becomes a new creation in Christ.
No one needs to remain just who he is.
Now, the experience of being dissatisfied with who you are is changed.
You have entered a new world of true living.
When you come to know Christ at the center of your life, you can break free from that gloom.
I now have what I have in me that does not fall to anything in the world.
Feel the change in your life.
Passion for life is one of God's great gifts.
It is the best tool for waking up from depression.
If you want to get rid of depression, you just have to keep your passion from fading away.
The most outstanding characteristic of children is their passion.
Children think the world is cool.
That is why children are absorbed in everything because they are caught up in their own thoughts.
If people can sustain this spirit until the day they die, they will unleash their potential.
One of the secrets to lasting happiness is to never lose your passion.
Passion changes our attitude towards others, our profession, and the world.
Passion is an amazing driving force for change, whether we are depressed or in a good mood.
Now we can escape from depression.
And you will experience a beautiful life in Jesus Christ.
The first thing to do here is to realize that God cares for us.
Also, we must not forget that we have become a new creation to live a holy life.
And I feel Christ in me, and I live by entrusting everything to Him.
Then you will experience that any difficulty can be overcome with Him.
We are confident that your passion will make a difference. Hallelujah!
