Title: Eternal Bounty
Content Title: Eternal Portion
Bible: Psalm 73:25-28
Our Lord has always loved and cherished us so much that he saved us through his death on the cross and gave us a portion of the eternal inheritance. (Colossians 1:21) “He has now reconciled you, who were enemies in heart, far away from you because of your evil deeds, now through the death of his flesh. When you come back and be reconciled to Christ, you will be raised to life, you will receive eternal life, and you will enjoy peace. Let's share the grace by thinking through the text what we need to know in order to receive the eternal portion.
First: There is only the Lord.
“Who do I have in heaven but you? On earth I have no one to long for but you” (verse 25). Why did God give human beings the image of God? It is the will of God on the part of God to make us one with God. In order to communicate with God, to walk with Him, and to keep Him close to Him, He gave people the image of God so that they resemble Him. Before man sinned, he had this image of God. But sin entered man and separated man from God. But even though God knows our sins, He has compassion on us and seeks us out and comes to us. That is why He loved us even to the point of dying on the cross for us.
Second: Those who turn away from God will perish.
“For those who are far from you will perish, for you have destroyed all who have turned away from you like harlots” (verse 27). He is the one who is approaching death. When you move away from life, you naturally become closer to death. Such foolish people will perish. Foolishness is the way to ruin a person. In the context of the text, to abstain means apostasy. “Like a prostitute” refers to a woman who has left her husband and went to another man. The Bible says that those who abandon their relationship with God and worship idols are like harlots.
Third: It is a blessing to draw near to God.
“It is a blessing for me to draw near to God; I will make the Sovereign Lord my refuge, and I will proclaim all your deeds” (verse 28). In contrast to this, drawing closer to God is said to be a blessing. Why is it a blessing to draw near to God? God is the source of blessing. God Himself is a blessing. God bless you. So, being close to God is a blessing. Keeping good things close is a great wisdom in life. What you keep close to and who you keep close to are important things that determine the fate of your life. Those who draw near to the great God become great. receive a great blessing.
