Title: Eunice (2 Timothy 01:3-5)
1. She was the mother of faith without lies (verse 5).
(1) This clearly states that Eunice's faith was a false faith. A virtuous woman said that her price was more precious than pearls (Proverbs 31:10), and that she was only a woman who feared the Lord (Proverbs 31:30).
(2) A mother's faith life without lies has a great influence on her child's faith, because the living image of that faith remains with her forever and has a tremendous impact on her life.
2. She was the mother who inherited the traditional beliefs (verse 5).
This verse is telling us that Timothy's mother Eunice also inherited the faith from his mother Lois, which is a very precious genealogy of faith. Eunice was a mother who set an example in the succession of the faith, imitating his mother's godly faith and playing a great role in passing on the living faith that passed on that godly faith to his son Timothy.
3. She was the mother of tears (v. 4).
From this, it is revealed that Timothy was a man of tears, but these tears of faith tell us what kind of person his mother was. Augustine's mother, Monica, who prayed with tears for a prodigal child, the great father and bishop Amburosius said to him, "God never turns away from the child of tears."
