Title: Evada/Mark 7:31-37
Contents Evada/Mark 7:31-37
Humans are living beings with everyone. That is why they are called social animals. In other words, it means to share the joy of talking with other people, and to live by sharing the sadness with the people around you. That is why it is difficult to live alone. Moreover, he is unhappy if he is in a situation where he cannot share with others. Whoever comes out here is deaf. Of course you can't talk to other people. And it's dull. I can't express myself properly. A life in which you cannot share your pain and joy is the life of the person mentioned in the text.
In a way, it may be the way we live our lives. It may be another deaf and dumb person in the midst of a pain that no one can express and a busyness that cannot be heard. In any case, Jesus approached this deaf and deaf person and said “Evada,” so that he could get along with everyone again and enjoy the joy of life. Ears open and eyes open. My heart that had been closed all my life has been opened. A new world has begun. Let's see how this joy came to be.
1. Seek a personal encounter with Jesus.
This man approached, begging Jesus to lay his hands on him (verse 32). Then Jesus “took the man by himself and left the crowd” (verse 33). Jesus took this man apart from the crowd and met him personally. Why? Jesus didn't want everyone to know about this man's suffering. He understood this man's plight and tried to heal him personally.
But for this person, he used a different method. He didn't pray like everyone else. In a word, you used the method that was right for that person. You put your fingers in your ears. Then he spit and touched his tongue. In other words, he touched his tongue with his wet hand. In other words, Jesus approaches each person with a personal interest. He knows my situation and knows my conflicts. You know my worries. He knows my frustrations and comes to me knowing my secrets and my own fears and anxiety. He comes in the way that suits me best. We should wish for such a personal encounter with Jesus.
2. Seek God's Help.
Verse 34 says, “He looked up to heaven and sighed, saying to him, “Ephada,” which means that it will be opened. Why did you look up to the sky? It was because he asked for God's help. Jesus is the one who does not need God's help. But he, too, is seeking God's help. He wants to know the Father's will and do it. He doesn't do it unless it's God's will. Our members always need to make an effort to align ours with God's will. A problem arises because I try to align God's will with my own. When I align my will with God's will, the problem will be solved.
The service and ministry of all the saints must be accomplished through the image of Jesus going to man after going to heaven. When we lift our heads up to see the sky and our work is accomplished, the miracle of Evada will happen.
3. Seek empathy for your neighbor's suffering.
Verse 34 says, “He looked up to heaven and sighed.” When Jesus saw the suffering of this patient, he sighed. Jesus saw the pain of those who were in pain and regarded it as his own pain. The Lord did not judge and heal a person based only on the outward appearance. When you look at this person, you see the pain and sorrow that you have been through. He must have felt the pain of alienation and severance that he had to be alone while not being able to get along with other people.
It is not that you regard the suffering of the other person as the suffering of others and do not care. Jesus did not only heal the mouth and ears of those who were cut off with their mouths and ears. He healed even that person's heart. He knew even this person's heart and healed that person's heart.
Even at this time, there are many people around us who need to listen to the Lord's ebbada. The Lord knows those who are lonely, suffering, and struggling because they are not open to anyone. He also knows the depths of our hearts. I hope that all these people will come to the Lord and hear the words of ‘Ebadah’ and experience a new world.
