Title: Evangelism must be done.
There was a deacon who immigrated to the United States and worked during the day and evangelized on his days off. This butler once walked around a residential area and stood in front of a magnificent mansion. But I had an intolerable urge to ring the house bell.
Of course, there was a foreigner's nameplate attached to the house. How much pride would be hurt if a yellow person rang the bell in America where racism is severe and 'rejected'? Still, I wanted to press it. There was no sound until the third press of the bell. So, while I was going back, I felt unbearable again, so I rang the bell again for the fourth time. Then, the old man inside stuck out his head. “What did you come here for?” “Believe in Jesus.” The deacon just said those words, gave the tract, and turned around. The deacon's phone number was written on the tract.
The next day the call came. It was the call that the inspiration was to meet. When the deacon visited the house, I felt how great and great the will of the Holy Spirit is. At that time, the moment the butler rang the bell, the old man hated this world and was trying to commit suicide. As I was tying a string to the crossbeam and hanging it around my neck, the bell rang and rang again. rang up to three times. The sound stopped and I was about to hang myself again, when the fourth bell rang. And the tract I received was Jesus' words, "Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you and your household will be saved."
Evangelism is so great. It saves even the mortal life. The Bible says, “Deliver them that are led to death, and do not save those who are slaughtered” (Proverbs 24:11). A church that faithfully carries out the mission the Lord has entrusted to it is a good church, a church that is pleasing to God, and a person who fulfills that mission is a good saint and a saint that is pleasing to God. We believe that evangelism is the mission of the church that God has given us and that we must fulfill, and that it is the mission of all of us.
It is a terrible sin to evade one's mission. Preaching the gospel of the kingdom is the great mission of the church and the most important mission of the saints. It is said that 40 million people on earth die in one year and 110,000 people die in one day, and 2/3 of them die without hearing the gospel. Christians should not be second-hand murderers. One of the most important tasks for believers to do is to preach the gospel. We must make every effort to preach the gospel so that we can hear it and believe it. The Lord has commanded us. “Preach the word, in season and out of season, always be diligent; in all things rebuke, rebuke and exhort with longsuffering and teaching” (2 Timothy 4:2). ” (Mark 16:15)
If I do not preach the gospel now, my dear friend may die without believing in Jesus. “Even if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast about, because it is something I must do, for if I do not preach the gospel, woe to me.” (1 Corinthians 9:16) Through the words of blessing given today, especially focusing on verse 15 We hope that you will enjoy grace together under the title, 'Evangelism must be done.'
1. Evangelism is the greatest blessing.
Intercrew, an internet company that specializes in employment, investigated the jobs most envied by teenagers, and found that they were singers and other entertainers. So-called celebrities are what we call stars. A star that shines brilliantly among all people, a star that everyone looks up to, and is called a star It seems that many young people dream of becoming celebrities when they see that the revenue from one advertisement exceeds our common sense and the drama is popular with foreigners as well.
But their popularity is like a mist. In some cases, its undying popularity falls overnight and is forgotten by everyone, and the always-consistent beauty and skin become ugly because of the side effects of many plastic surgery, turning into a mockery of people. However, the shining star in the sky always shines in the same place even if the generation changes and the main character of the country changes. The stars of the earth lose their light over time, but the stars in the sky continue to shine. God makes us stars who will shine forever like the stars in the sky. The target is the one who evangelizes. Daniel 12:3 says, “The wise will shine like the light of the firmament, and the one who turns many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever.” . I pray in the name of the Lord that everyone will become a star.
Another promise that proves that evangelism is the greatest blessing is in verses 17-18 of the text. It is pouring out the power that the Lord has on those who evangelize with faith. “And these signs shall follow those who believe: In your name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues, they will pick up snakes, and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.” . Therefore, the evangelist will enjoy the greatest blessing and spiritual power as a co-worker with Jesus, who has the authority in heaven and on earth. What a wonderful blessing this is.
No matter how good a lawyer is, he can acquit a guilty person and release them, but he cannot completely eradicate the crime. However, what a blessing and power that evangelism can lead to heaven by introducing Jesus, the best lawyer, to those who are eternally destroyed as sinners and go to hell. Not only this. No matter how many thousands of people on this earth live in a splendid house of tens of pyeong, the owner's nameplate changes over time, and in the end no one can own it forever, but evangelism has a splendid golden house, where there is no tears, pain and darkness What greater blessing could there be than this, given the right to live? Therefore, evangelism is the channel and way to enjoy the greatest blessings.
Through evangelism, those who do not know and cannot enjoy this blessing will have the grace to enjoy the eternal blessings that the Lord has granted and the blessings that will disappear on this earth. I hope there is this.
2. Evangelism is the best expression of love.
One of the most common things you do in your social life is exchanging business cards. A business card is used to imprint oneself on the other party and secure an advantageous position in work or business. So, sometimes I put my own face picture or caricature, and sometimes I put the logo of the organization (or company I run) to which I belong. I would like to introduce here a very unusual, but worthy example of a business card.
The business card I will introduce is ‘Even if you forget me after we meet, you have nothing to lose. But after you meet Jesus Christ, if you forget Him, you lose everything.' This business card was written on the business card of In-su Han, an elder of Songwol Presbyterian Church in Incheon, who works hard to inform the world of Christian culture as an MBC TV talent, as well as the president of the Korean Christian Culture Arts and Theater Association.
Elder In-soo Han is putting more effort into imprinting Jesus rather than imprinting himself while handed over a business card. Considering the purpose of business cards, Elder Insoo Han is an idiot. But is he really that stupid? Absolutely not. Elder Insoo Han is a messenger of love who first introduces Jesus Christ, the greatest gift and love of mankind, not himself, to anyone you meet.
In summer, many people drown in rivers or seas. However, there are some people who give their lives to save others and sacrifice their lives to become saints. Rescue activities risking the lives of 119 paramedics, students, and police officers are expressions of love that saves a person who is more precious than the world. In John 3:16, God said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him might have eternal life.” As a person indebted to that love, the practice of keeping the commandments about loving God and neighbor in Matthew 22:37-40, which Jesus commanded family, neighbors, and unbelievers, who are deceived by Satan and going to hell in the midst of curses, misfortunes, and hardships is evangelism. to be. In other words, spreading the love of God is the best expression of the grace of Jesus Christ.
Luke 16:19-31 tells the story of a rich man and a beggar Lazarus. The rich man's name does not appear in the Bible because he is not written in the book of life. Like a rich man's contrite cry of regret, we think of wealth and glory in the world as a blessing and enjoy it. After we die, we will be thrown into hellfire forever and regret it. If we ask ourselves why we didn't share the gospel of salvation with ourselves, we will What can be excused? Therefore, evangelism is the reward of God's love and the grace of Jesus, and it can be said that it is the only way to best communicate that great love.
German preacher and theologian Bon Hoefer was a lifelong struggle to bring down Hitler's dictatorship. He preached courageously every Sunday without fear of death.
“A crazy driver is driving a car. If you were there, as a Christian, would you go after people who were injured by the car, give them treatment, and just pray? Or will you bring down the crazy driver?” Bon Hoefer was eventually executed.
However, the story he saw in a vision just before his death has been told. It is said that God was the judge and Hitler stood before the judgment seat. “You, Hitler, have tormented many people and caused a lot of innocent blood to be shed, so you must go to hell and suffer.” At this point, Hitler cried out. “God, I did not know that such a world existed when I was dead. Had I known, I would not have committed such a sin. But no one told me this.” At that moment, Bon Hoefer was said to have repented by beating his chest. “Lord, I was just trying to bring him down, but I had pity on his soul and didn’t even think to preach.”
Just as God's great love forgave us and saved us without any conditions, we too must become messengers of love who preach the gospel of love to our enemies without any conditions. If you have any desire to repay the love of the Lord who saved me, I hope you will fulfill the mission of evangelism. Evangelism is the greatest reward for the Lord's love, and evangelism is the surest way to show love to those who embrace it. I hope that we and our church will realize the Lord's love more through evangelism and become a fragrance of love that can be delivered to those who do not know that love.
A filial son values the will of his parents, and a loyal servant cherishes the last words of the king. Evangelism is the will and command of Jesus. John 20:31 says, “These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.”
Christians believe in Jesus as their Savior and as people who love Jesus and give their lives to preach Jesus, they must obey Jesus' will, evangelism, as a great command. Therefore, evangelism is not something that can be done or not, it is a Christian duty and mission that must be done.
Through me and each of us, and through our church established to accomplish God's good will, I earnestly hope that the fruit of salvation for souls will be abundant, and I hope that you have the grace of obedience in evangelism.
