Title: Evangelism to Corinth
Bible: Acts 18:5-11
2009.8.9. afternoon
Paul, who came down to Corinth alone, preached the gospel first, met Priscilla and Aquila, and laid the foundation for preaching the gospel in Corinth. The couple dedicated their homes to the church and built an outpost for evangelism. And every Sabbath, he preached the gospel in the synagogue.
At that time, Silas and Timothy, whom they had left behind in Macedonia, finally arrived.
Paul gained more strength and boldly preached the gospel.
1. Those who oppose the gospel
As the gospel is preached vigorously, some Jews also appear here and begin to obstruct the gospel. Not only hinders, but opposes them.
Where the gospel is preached, there will always be adversaries. We should not worry about those adversaries. Because we have life and they do not have life.
This is a battle between life and death.
Paul entrusts judgment to God and sets out toward the Gentiles.
The apostle Paul couldn't stand their actions, so he shook off his clothes and said, "Your blood will go back to your heads, and I am clean." And he went to the Gentiles.
2. To the House of Justus
The place of evangelism is moved from the synagogue to the house of Justus. Because of the Jews who objected to preaching the gospel in the synagogue, Paul decided that it was difficult to preach the gospel in the synagogue and moved to the house of Justus next to the synagogue. It is still the home of Priscilla and Aquila.
Who is Justo?
A Roman who converted to Judaism. He is a Roman who lives here.
3. Crispus, ruler of the synagogue
One man's conversion affects so many people. We do not know through whom God will accomplish such a great work, so please evangelize diligently regardless of time or season.
Later, when the church in Corinth was divided, Paul confessed that the only people who directly baptized were Crispus, Gaius, and Stephana. Other than that, it is thought to have been given by Salah and Timothy. Who is my powerful evangelist?
4. God's Comfort and Vision
God appears whenever he is in crisis and gives the Apostle Paul comfort and a new vision.
“Do not be afraid, do not be silent, but speak. I am with you, and no one will be against you to harm you, for my people are many in this city.”
Hallelujah! Where can there be such a clear and sure word?
You do not know how much comfort and strength these words gave to the apostle Paul. The apostle Paul saw a vision of God here. There are many people of God. It is another most surprising vision after the Macedonian vision. You, too, want to see these fantasies.
Because of the vision God showed me when planting our church, it gives me great strength in difficult times. It always comforts me to see so many people raising their hands high and praising God. God will surely make it so. No, I've already done it.
Apostle Paul planted a church, preached the gospel, and taught here for a year and five months.
