Title: Evangelism, you can do it.
The 70 disciples who were sent to preach the gospel returned. Today's message is the content of the blessing Jesus gave after receiving the evangelism report. First of all, what was the result of their evangelism? It was very successful. They and Jesus were delighted with the result. “At this time Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “Father, Lord of heaven and earth, we thank you for hiding these things from the wise and prudent and revealing them to little children. Brothers and sisters, what does Jesus mean by “this” in verse 21? 'This' speaks of who we are, the disciples of Jesus. Who are we?
1. It is that we are missionaries sent into the world (verses 17-18)
“The seventy returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name.” Jesus said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”
The 12 disciples were not the only ones sent. 70 disciples were also sent. Then we, the disciples of Jesus, were also sent to a spiritual battle with Satan. Our Happy Day 517 is our mission sent.
2. Our mission is that we can evangelize (verse 19).
“I have given you authority to trample serpents and scorpions, and to have control over all the power of the enemy; no one will harm you by any means.
Giving the authority and power in the name of Jesus to win the spiritual battle, Jesus sent out His disciples (Luke 9:1-2; 10:9). To those who returned from evangelism, Jesus reaffirmed the authority and power they had received. We who want to evangelize like them are given the authority and power in the name of Jesus. I hope you believe it. Victory is ours.
3. That we have been chosen by the world (verse 20)
“But do not rejoice that the demons submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Jesus wanted to call the attention of his victorious disciples. Because we run the risk of being intoxicated with victory and forgetting who we are in Christ. They were the people of heaven who were chosen by the world. That's right. The question “Do we know who we are?” takes precedence over the question “What can we do?” Apart from Christ we can do nothing. I hope you all participate in Happy Day 517, spiritual battle with the assurance of salvation.
