Title: Even Demons Surrendered
Luke 10:17~24 Even the demons surrendered Topic: 16. Power 2006. 1. 15.
◎ Introduction: Christ truly gives great power (presence) to those who work for Him (the life of a worker).
But it can be misunderstood and misused. Therefore, he gives instruction to the returned seventy (Christ's servants).
1. Great Ability (17-20)
2. Great privilege (21-24)
◎ Set people free
※ When we start the work of exorcising demons, the quick and effective exorcism of demons is ① the strong power we have in Christ.
It depends on the understanding of authority and the voluntary cooperation of those who wish to receive exorcism.
When a ghost is commanded to come out immediately, the ghost obeys the command.
One). the defeated demons
: “Even the demons believe and tremble” (James 2:19). We have power over demons.
So there is no need to be afraid at all. Jesus is actually protecting us against the forces of darkness that are constantly trying to overwhelm us.
2). Delegated authority: When Jesus sent out his twelve disciples, he commanded them to “heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, and cast out demons” (Matthew 10:8). After that, Jesus also gave the same command to the 70-member evangelism corps and sent them out two by two to each place (Luke 10:1).
※ The word of God assures us that we can cast out demons in the name of Jesus, and that demons cannot harm us.
3). Confession, exorcism, and healing
: This power over demons was also exercised in healing diseases. Self-reflection is essential
※ If criticism, murmuring, and self-pity are rooted in the hearts of the sick, they must confess these sins and receive forgiveness.
4). Types of Exorcism in the New Testament
: If there is one thing in common with exorcising demons, it is the fact that all demons are expelled when they give the command of faith in the name of Jesus Christ.
※ In fact, you must engage in spiritual warfare in this generation until Christ completes the final exorcism. Although the exorcism of demons has not yet been finally accomplished, our victory is certain.
5). freedom from lust
: Suffice it to say that he was bound by the demon of lust.
※ It must be very unpleasant for a wife to live with a husband who is possessed by the demon of lust, command the demon of lust to come out in the name of Jesus.
6). exorcism
: If you know that the Lord Jesus has been anointed to preach “the release of the prisoners” (Isaiah 61:1)
If you believe, stand on the promises of Jesus.
※ “They will cast out demons in my name” (Mark 16:17) and “No one will harm you by any means” (Luke 10:19).
Get rid of your timidity and doubts by understanding the Word.
※ We must remember that the work of exorcising demons requires faith. Some Jews without faith tried to cast out demons on a trial basis in the name of Jesus, and experienced disastrous results (see Acts 19:13-16).
※ Before starting the healing work, protect yourself by faith in the blood of the Lord, and always under the shadow of the blood.
stay Put on the complete armor of the gospel and join the war.
There is no need to shout at the demons. The demons will listen to you and obey you.
1. Great Power (17-20)
※ This is the report and praise of the Seventy on the results of the ministry.
One). Treasury of the Seventies (17)
※ The return and testimony of the Seventy is a lesson for all generations of Christ's workers.
※ “The Seventy returned with joy”. How, how, or what they say about the adversary. They were full of joy,
He rejoiced in Christ for the marvelous power of the name of Christ.
※ “In the name of the Lord even the demons yielded to us” That power not only came through the name of Christ, but it is a confession of their own weakness and nothingness in the sight of Christ.
2). Worker has power over Satan (18)
※ When Satan “falls like lightning from heaven,” it means that Satan's power has fallen from the peak and the summit. To “see” means that Jesus saw the triumphant work of the Seventy (which was beginning) as a sign of Satan’s complete defeat.
※ God's power is for Satan's defeat, that is, to save people from Satan's power.
3). The believing Christian has power over all enemies. (19)
※ What is the meaning of “ability against snakes and scorpions”? (literal or figurative)
① It has a literal meaning.
- If it is God's purpose to use a servant, he will protect you from any threat or danger.
- Whether by shipwreck (Acts 28:14 or less) or snake bites (Acts 28:3-5)
② It has a spiritual meaning. This power is given to Satan.
(John 10:29, 17:11, Phil 1:6, 2 Thessalonians 3:3, 2 Tim 1:12, 4:18, 1 Pet 1:5, Jude 24-25, Gen 28:15)
4). Worker to rejoice in salvation, not in his power (20)
① The true basis of the believer's joy is salvation, not power.
※ The great privilege of a believer is not in his work or ministry, but as a child of God (Galatians 4:4-6; 2 Corinthians 6:17-18) and the spirit of adoption (Romans 8:15, 26, John 16: 24) was received. became heirs of God (same as Christ). (Romans 8:16-17, Titus 3:7, 1 Pet 1:3-4).
② The names of believers are written in heaven (Compare, Rev 13:8, 17:8, 20:12, 22:19)
(Revelation 3:5, Philippians 4:3, Hebrews 12:22-23, Revelation 21:27, Exodus 32:32-33, Psalm 69:28, Dan 12:1)
2. Great privilege (21-24)
※ Because of the glorious victory over Satan, it is the joy of trust and confidence that comes from the Holy Spirit. (18-20)
※ Because the power of God that surpasses evil was exercised by the disciples, souls were freed from the snare of sin and death (Satan perished). He rejoiced greatly that the gospel was preached by the servants (Hebrews 12:2).
One). We have the privilege of having spiritual insight into the truth. (21)
① “This” refers to the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, it is the truth that God is working in the world with the truth the 70 people learned. (19~20) Knowing “this” is great knowledge.
② “This” was hidden from the wise and prudent. These are the proud, the proud, and the wise of this world (1 Corinthians 1:21, 25-29, 2:14), because they need no more.
③ “This” was revealed to “little children”. Little children are humble before God.
Little children are those who look up to God as their father.
④ He was very pleased to be able to show “this” to the “little children” of the earth.
(John 8:31-32, 15:14-15, 1 Corinthians 2:9-10, 1 Pet 2:2-3, )
