Title: Evidence of Faith
Contents
4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, and he received evidence that he was righteous, because God testified of that gift, that although he died, by his faith he still speaks.
5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, and he was not seen again, because God had removed him.
6 Without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
(Heb 11:4-6)
Faith is a metaphysical term, and its content is also spiritual, so it is easy to become an obsolete idea if done wrong. In the past and even now, there are many people who make faith as a play of a perfect idea and explain it with an intricate philosophical argument, and live intoxicated with such explanation. Also, there are not a few hypocrites who put up a sign saying faith in front of them and do other things at will. Even in a society where Christianity prevails, there are traders of faith who earn money as a sign of faith and occupy any position. Therefore, this writer of Hebrews was the first to mention the evidence of faith while writing the chapter of faith. It is indeed the correct word. Faith must have evidence. Faith without evidence is not faith; such faith is hypocrisy. Therefore, faith is not a speculative theologian's theologian logic, it is not a hypocrite's moral catalog, and it is not a fool's money-making tool. Faith must show evidence of faith. This Bible shows us what the evidence of faith is by citing two representatives of the evidence of faith.
First, it is evidence of Abel's faith. Abel's faith was proved by his sacrifice as a righteous man. Believers must obtain evidence that they are righteous. In this society full of injustice and injustice and corruption, there are believers who must show evidence of the righteous. The righteous people here do not mean any absolute good people. A right person we can usually think of, a person who does the right thing, a person who tries to live the right life. Being a Christian does not mean living in another world. However, no matter how in the den of thieves, you have to live with only the evidence that you are a right person, a righteous person, and a person who wants to live rightly. When I hear that some unbelievers refer to you as 'unrighteous and rotten people', I feel like going through a mouse hole, and on the contrary, sometimes I say, 'He's a really nice guy. Hearing the words, ‘You are a person who strives to live a righteous life,’ I experienced a joy as if ascending to heaven. Living right is not easy.
This is because if humans want to please only humans except for God, it is a banquet, and in the end, neither he nor they can find joy in that affair. This is because if we do not live with the sample of the value of human life to God, the value of human beings will also fall below that of animals. Therefore, the Bible here continues to summarize that the way to please God is also faith, and that faith consists in coming to God, seeking and refining God's will, living with God, and hoping for Him. We believe that today's Christian believers have fallen into a position where they are selfish who seek their own joy before God's pleasure, and that they give pain, anxieties, sorrows and worries to their neighbors rather than to please them.
