Title: Exodus 26
Content Exodus 26:1-14 (36:8-19)
The veil and cover, which are the curtains that cover the Holy and Most Holy, are all fourfold.
① Angjang 1: This is a skillfully embroidered curtain, with a total of 10 sheets.
It was made by mixing finely braided linen, blue thread, purple thread, and red thread.
It is 28 cubits long and 4 cubits wide.
At the end of the two curtains that connected 5 sheets, 50 blue rings were made and connected to each other with 50 gold rings.
The pattern is engraved with the shape of the group.
This first curtain covers the innermost of the sanctuary and the holiest, and together with the other devices it achieves the climax of inner beauty.
② Angjang 2: 11 sheets of goat hair.
Made with goat hair.
It is 30 cubits long and 4 cubits wide.
50 hooks were made at the end of the two curtains that connected chapters 5 and 6, respectively, and connected with 50 brass hooks.
If there was one more than the embroidered curtains, the front and back sides of the sanctuary were stretched in half and covered, and those that were 2 cubits long were extended by 1 cubit each on the left and right sides of the sanctuary.
This second curtain made of goat's hair is cast over the first tabernacle, so it seems to have served to protect the embroidered curtain.
③Cover 1: A ram's skin membrane dyed red.
④Cover 2: A membrane made of sea otter skin.
There is no mention of any particular shape or size. It was probably made in a suitable shape to protect the tabernacle.
Exodus 26:15-30 (36:20-34)
I am talking about wooden planks, bands, and bases.
① Planks and pedestals: These are the pillars that support the tabernacle.
It was made by coating a piece of wood with gold.
It is 2.5 cubits long and 1.5 cubits wide. There is no mention of thickness.
There are 48 in total, 20 each on the south and north sides, and 8 on the west side of the back. Of these eight, two columns located at both ends were made twice as thick as the 46 columns. And under each pillar, two silver pedestals were placed.
These boards have two nibs and are connected to each other.
The silver sockets supporting these boards were provided as a ransom of half a shekel each from the elders of the people.
② Belt: It supports and connects the boards.
A total of 15 bands were made by connecting the plank posts.
The bands were made stronger by considering that they pass through the gold rings on the planks.
Here again in verse 30 it says, “You shall build the tabernacle according to the pattern shown on the mountain” (Reference 25:9,40). The tabernacle is not made by man as a sign of religious piety that man approaches God, but is given in a revelatory dimension of God. Therefore, if you do not follow the pattern that God has spoken and shown you, it has nothing to do with God.
In this sense, it means that salvation is accomplished entirely by God's method. Likewise, the cross is God's way, not ours. To deny ourselves and take up our cross means to live God's way. It is a narrow and strait road leading to the narrow gate (Matt. 7:13-14).
Many church members have a misunderstanding of believing in Jesus in the sense that if you enter through the narrow gate, a wide and dandan road awaits. But what the Bible is saying is not that entering the narrow gate leads to a broad way. If you go through the narrow gate, the road is continuously narrow and there are few people looking for it. Then you should know that it is purely the grace of God that leads you down this narrow road that people do not seek.
Exodus 26:31-37 (36:35-38)
It is written about veils, hooks, and pillars.
①Drapery 1: The cherubim were embroidered with blue, purple, scarlet, and finely braided linen to distinguish the Holy of Holies from the Holy of Holies.
②Drapery 2: With the above threads, a general embroidered without group was placed and hung at the entrance to the sanctuary.
③Pillar 1 : It is for hanging the veil, and refers to 4 pillars and 4 silver pedestals.
④Pillar 2: It is for hanging the veil at the entrance. It refers to 5 pillars and 5 brass supports. Unlike Pillar 1, here it was made of brass.
⑤ Hook: This hook made of gold is for hanging drapes.
“Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way he has opened for us through the veil, which is his flesh” (Hebrews 10:19-20).
The veil of the tabernacle that the Old Testament tried to show was to testify that no one could come before God as a sinner. A veil that must be separated until Christ comes is necessary, but Christ tore His body on the cross to open the way for anyone to come before God. In Matthew 27:51, “the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom,” showing what the cross meant.
