Title: Exodus 30
Content Exodus 30:1-10 (37:25-28)
The altar of incense is mentioned here, which is not mentioned in chapter 25 when referring to the Holy of Holies and the utensils of the sanctuary.
It was made by wrapping a piece of wood with gold, and it was surrounded by a gold frame, and four rings were attached.
The length is 1 cubit, the breadth is 1 cubit, and the height is 2 cubits.
It is carried through a piece of wood covered with gold.
By incense twice a day, in the morning and in the evening.
This altar of incense is placed closest to the central Holy of Holies in the sanctuary. There is a lighthouse on the left and a rice cake table on the right. Incense was burned in the morning and evening, but when burning incense, it had to be burned when the lamp was lit. The blood of atonement, which is sprinkled once a year, is applied here. The altar of incense is meant to represent the prayers of the saints offered to God (Psalm 141:2; Luke 1:9-10; Revelation 8:3-4).
Exodus 30:11-16 (38:21-31)
God directed that the ransom be taken from the people over the age of 20 for the funds to be used for the tabernacle sacrifice. This ransom was to be paid half a shekel in common, regardless of the difference between the two sides.
What God sees is not that he sees the rich or not according to the wealth of this earth, but it means that he sees God's people the same as those who have given him grace. For the righteousness which the Lord has given is the same
Thus, to be “in the number” (v. 13) means to have the grace of being God’s own. It shows that those who have received God's grace must pay the ransom to become God's people with the same ransom. It is the same righteousness given through Jesus Christ to the people of the Old Testament and the people of the New Testament. “The righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, without distinction” (Romans 3:22).
“This will be a memorial to the children of Israel before the LORD, and your lives will be redeemed” (verse 16). In other words, it is not that you want to redeem your life by paying the ransom, but you should know the grace of God's ransom through the payment.
Jesus' atoning death was a complete ransom payment. It is not God who pays the devil, but the God of justice who pays for himself by giving up his Son on the cross. If you are in Christ, you must see the cross of Christ and know the grace of atonement (1 Corinthians 2:12).
Exodus 30:17-21 (38:8)
In chapter 27, we are talking about a laver, which was not mentioned when the court of the tabernacle was mentioned. The laver was made entirely of bronze, and its base was also made of bronze. It is placed between the tabernacle and the altar of burnt offering to hold water for priests to wash their hands and feet. For the priests to wash their hands and feet with water, it meant purification. It does not mean that water can wash away sins, but it means that unclean people are unacceptable before God.
Exodus 30:22-33
Here we are talking about anointing oil, which was used in the sense of sanctifying the priests (verse 30) or sanctifying them by applying them to the various utensils of the tabernacle (verses 26-29).
The anointing oil is made by mixing 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, 250 shekels of cinnamon, 250 shekels of calamus, 500 shekels of cinnamon, and 1 hin of olive oil. ). This is because the anointing oil made in this way is holy.
In this case, holy does not mean that the anointing oil itself has been changed into something special in a mystical sense, but that it has been set apart to be used in God's sacrifice.
Exodus 30:34-38 (37:29)
Incense had to be made as God had directed. It is made by taking the incense products of Sohaphyang, Nagamhyang, and Pungjae incense and mixing it with frankincense. Some of it must be crushed finely and placed in front of the ark of the testimony in the Most Holy. Like anointing oil, this incense was made for God, and because it was holy, it was strictly forbidden for an individual to make it for himself. If there is a maker, it will be cut off from Israel (verse 38).
