Title: From Failure to Success Text: Joshua 8:1-9
The failure of the Battle of Ai was a great shock to the Israelites. So Joshua cried out to God like this. Joshua 7:6-7 Here it is said that Joshua tore his clothes. This is what he takes when he is possessed by extreme pain or anguish. And the act of bowing to the ground expresses that one has now become like a lowly one. However, the important thing is that Joshua did this because he lost the war, but more importantly, it was because he had an intuition that Jehovah God had left Israel. Even worse than losing a war is that God leaves our country. Worse than my business failure is that God has left me. All you need to do is to rebuild the country, start the business again and start it up again, and find your health again. But if God departs from me, I will be destroyed forever. So now Joshua is covered in dust and praying to God. At that time, God said in 7:26, “The Lord has put an end to his fierce wrath.”
1. To turn failure into success, God must start it.
Joshua 8:1 The important word here is “given”. This doesn't mean 'I will give it to you in the future'. you might be able to give that's not the word. This means that something to be done is said in the perfect tense as if it had already been accomplished. Ai has not been conquered yet, but it has been conquered. All things in the life of a believer are that God must begin to win. Let's follow. ‘God must start!’ No matter what I do, if I start it, it fails. When Joshua first went to conquer Ai, Joshua started. There is no word that he prayed to God, that he asked a question, or that he thought of God's will. But now, before going to conquer Ai for the second time, Joshua knew that in order to succeed, God had to start and prayed. I asked God's will. And in verse 1 of the text, we received God's answer. It means that I have already given you the castle of Ai. Everyone! We need to know that failure turns into victory when God begins. God must start.
2. To turn failure into victory, you must prepare yourself for victory.
3. To turn failure into success, God must give it.
Joshua 8:7 Success is not something I make. This is what God has to give. We are only used as tools for that success. The same is true. I think the skills I learn will make me successful, the strength I have will make me successful, the experiences I have will make me successful, but it's just a tool. You must believe that it is God who makes it successful, moves it, and makes it happen.
4. To turn failure into success, we must pay attention to God's sign.
