Faith and Nature/Romans 8:18-25
Sermon content
The purpose of all nature is to fulfill the will of God who created nature. The meaning and purpose are the same and achieve their value. All nature created by God glorifies God. When the sun rises in the east and the moon sets in the west, it represents the glory of God, the stars shine in the sky, and the flowing clouds represent the glory of God, the green grass embraces the fragrance of life, the red flowers represent beautiful beauty, and the fruit represents delicious fruit. Bearing the sage represents the glory of God, and the birds in the air, the fish that jump in the water, the dancing butterflies, and the singing orioles all have the purpose of accomplishing God's will. Even a single small grass on the lawn sprouts in spring, leaves in summer, and in autumn the seeds grow and do their part. All nature moves according to the order of creation to glorify God. Only humans are beings who rebel against God. It is a violation of God's will by rebelling against the conscience that God has given and against the Holy Spirit. Human beings created in the image of God must resemble God, become perfect as God is perfect, obey God's will, realize their mission, and glorify God.
We are destroying nature that God has commanded us to rule and protect. Now, theology should not be limited to dealing only with the problem of human salvation. The salvation of man should be concerned with the restoration of the creation order. God saves humans first so that they can save nature. Therefore, the task of the church's mission is to take the responsibility of governing and keeping nature, which is the command that God originally gave us. Today's church should be educated and missionary with the theme of preserving the creation order in church education and mission. Believing in Jesus is not just about finding peace of mind on your own. It is impossible for me to receive blessings, to prosper, and to go to heaven. God is pleased only when we fulfill our responsibilities for our neighbors, for our nation, and for God's creatures. Through missionary work, we must not only save souls, but also take the lead in realizing justice and peace in this society, and pay attention to missionary work to restore the order of creation.
Nature was created by God, and humans are supposed to live with it by managing it well. However, human greed is endless, so rather than studying nature and systematizing science to realize the Creator's mysterious order of creation, it destroys nature with the tools of human civilization, destroying the order of creation and ultimately harming humans and destroying the earth itself. Looking at the crisis of the ecosystem with fear of destruction, this Sunday, we are going to cross the line between natural science and faith to find out what the true meaning of our faith is.
Even if it was Newton's (lssac) law, which was all-powerful with only that famous law of gravitation, it wasn't really his greatness. The reason was that such a theory could only be established on the earth's surface and could not be applied to the world above the earth's surface. After Newton's death, Einstein (Einstein, Albert) had to correct it.
According to the teachings of natural science, the universe is always created as two things. sky and earth, sun and moon, yin and yang (male and female), etc.
As such, adjusting the mean as two factors is called the immovable principle. Therefore, it can be said that the two elements have a relativistic relationship with each other, just as we know darkness when we know light and we perceive strong light when we experience darkness. (Einstein)
Therefore, the relativity between the world that seems to be capable of true harmony and development where they are connected with each other with relativity and the invisible world becomes science and faith.
It is not an exaggeration to say that the world's great inventors and scientists from the past have developed the mystical world, mostly by devout believers or scientists who study the Bible. To give an example, let's think about 'water' (H2O). There are three forms of water. 1) solid form (ice) 2) liquid form (water) 3) gaseous form (steam). Here, everyone can take a solid form and a liquid form. If you only know these two laws, you cannot explain why clouds form and why it rains.
Here, it is inevitable to pay attention to water, which becomes invisible water vapor. All forms are known as clouds, snow, fog, and rain. In addition, if this law is applied, a steam engine can be built soon, and trains and steamships can come and go.
Therefore, there is no immediate objection to an invisible natural problem that cannot be explained by one's own theory. What we need to know here is that we can experience the news of the spiritual realm as a life of faith. At the same time, we can realize God's plan and receive great lessons to gain insight into things on earth. can be
Therefore, natural science can be the initiation of faith, and to become a true scientist, one cannot become a believer. For another example, if you look at Job 28:11 in the Bible, 'He blocks the rivers so that they do not flow, and the hidden things are revealed with light. As it has already been stated in the Bible through a man named Job, it is impossible to meet God, the master of nature, and to know his mysteries only with mathematical formulas in the visible world. The reason why there are many great scientists, writers, economists, politicians, artists, and businessmen in Europe and America, whether in the past or now, is because there are many people who believe in the words of the Bible. Therefore, most of the world's civilization is being enlightened by the hands of those who believe in God.
Anthropocentrism has established the ideological basis for endless prosperity and wealth by revealing aggression toward other creatures under the frame of dichotomous thinking that distinguishes humans from other creatures. Thus, they regarded the other creature worlds simply as objects of service and sacrifice for man. However, God created man at the end of the history of creation. Before man was created, other creatures were already developing their own history. It is for this reason that human beings are called stewards of God's creation. In fact, other creatures would be able to enjoy peace without humans. It is free from human arrogance and exploitation. On the contrary, man cannot exist for a moment without other creatures. Thus, anthropocentrism is the cause of an ecological crisis that must be abandoned.
Only when all humans and humans, humans and other creatures, and creation and creation work together can we overcome the ecological crisis. We Christians must confess that we are called to this earth to practice stewardship of coexistence and reconciliation as part of that whole creation.
The above facts are that the creation of nature was neither accidental nor evolutionary, but a world created by God. Therefore, believing in God the Creator, faith is the mother of science, science is the initiation of faith, and everything in the natural world is God's living record.
