Title: Faith and Thanksgiving / Luke 17:11-19

Contents

Hallelujah! As we celebrate Thanksgiving Day, we give thanks to our beloved saints, families, the body church, and this country.

I pray earnestly in the name of the Lord that it may overflow.

It happened at some school.

The teacher came into the classroom and said, "Students, one by one, please tell me what kind of person you will become.

," he told the students.

A student who wants to become a doctor and heal many people, a student who wants to help people who are injustice by becoming a judge

Many students, including life, talked about their dreams.

Finally, one student who stood still said, "Teacher, I want to be a man." say this

Some of the students who heard scoffed and said, "You pretend to be alone. So you're saying we're not humans, we're beasts?"

I did. The teacher listened to the student and asked, "Then how can I become a person?"

I did.

The student responded briefly, "Teacher, you must believe in Jesus. And you must go to church."

do.

The main character of this story is the story of President Garfield, who was the 20th president of the United States.

Many people believe in Jesus and want to get something first, but they do not reach the full measure of Jesus Christ.

It is very important to grow up and become a true person by becoming like Jesus.

Specifically, how can you become a person?

“The child grew and became strong, and he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him” (Luke 2:40).

First, you have to be strong as you grow up.

"The child grows and becomes strong"

Just as a child grows and grows stronger, so should we grow and become stronger every day in our lives. physically

Not only must be strong, but also be physically healthy.

If you eat what you want and go wherever you want to go, you are not a perfect person. You should be able to control yourself

is.

Second, wisdom must be satisfied.

"Wisdom is sufficient"

"Wisdom" means "the ear to hear."

Just as children grow up and listen to their parents and their teachers, so too can we

Let me hear you!

Those who have ears to hear are wise.

After Solomon became king and offered a thousand burnt offerings to God, God appeared to him and said, "What shall I give you?

Ask him." He asked for wisdom.

He did not seek wealth or riches, nor honor, nor the destruction of the enemy's life, nor longevity, but wisdom.

I sought wisdom from God with all these things.

There are schools of knowledge, schools of understanding, and schools of wisdom.

If knowledge is learned at school, understanding must be learned at home.

"Comprehension" means "judging right from wrong".

You shouldn't be forced to just study, but right and wrong should be taught at home.

The school of wisdom is the church.

As Jesus asked and answered questions in the synagogue, his wisdom was satisfied.

Third, God's grace must always be with you.

"The grace of God was upon him."

We need to know the grace of our parents.

The more you raise your children, the more you can know the grace of your parents. Before raising children, you must know all the grace of these parents.

can't. I always remember my mother's saying, "You too should raise a child once."

We should be able to remember our Master's grace.

Many people spend more than 12 years or nearly 20 years in school, investing money in school to learn while still learning their teachers properly

I can't date. It ends with only the passing of knowledge.

It is tragic that we encounter many problems in life, but we do not have a teacher to discuss these problems with.

is.

We should be able to thank God for His grace.

Among grace, grace is the grace of God.

Gratitude refers to repaying God's grace. Those who do not know gratitude are those who do not know grace.

not a person either.

No matter how successful a person is, if grace is gone, that person cannot function as a human being.

Living on the same Korean Peninsula, North Korea says it's a bad year every year, but if you think about it, Korea has a good year every year.

There is much more to be grateful for.

I bless you in the name of the Lord so that you can realize the grace and always give thanks.

The verse of this text is that Jesus was going toward Jerusalem and was passing between Samaria and Galilee in a village.

It happened.

Ten lepers pleaded for grace, saying, "Jesus Teacher, have mercy on us!"

You can receive grace even if you stand still, but you must be able to plead for grace.

Lepers are people who are cold-hearted even in modern times.

When I was a evangelist, I was in Seoul and took the students (though now it is gone) to the Wonju leper village.

I received a lot of resentment from my brothers and sisters.

“Evangelist, how did you take the students there?”

They understood that they were members of the same church and wanted to hold hands and pray together, but the reaction of the parents was not so.

Rather, they are reluctant to study at the same school even if their parents are lepers and their children are fine.

At the time, they were even colder and farther away. Lepers are people who are isolated and housed near mountain valleys.

They lived on the rice thrown from them. If a leper comes out and is caught by the locals, they will be stoned.

I couldn't even complain.

The words of today's text are prepared for such a risk, and they came to Jesus and pleaded for their life.

Some patients were lame because of a rotten leg, and some were unable to move their arm properly due to a rotten arm.

Ram, there were people who could not see well because their faces were scorched.

There is a poem called "I" by the leper poet Han Ha-gon.

"Let's not come. Let's not come. Let's not be human. Let's not be animals.

A mushroom that springs up, but a life that is unavoidable like a mushroom, truly unavoidable.”

A person who is human, but not human, but not an animal, a life that drips like a mushroom, leprosy

His lifelong wish was to become a human being and live in harmony with people.

Jesus heard their earnest wishes.

“When he saw it, he said, ‘Go, show yourselves to the priests’” (Luke 17:14).

The Lord told them to go to the priest and live with physical, religious, and social approval.

you have spoken

At that time, lepers had to go to the priest to have their body notarized when they were healed.

They were not healed when he told them to go.

If they doubted, "Teacher, we are not healed yet."

I don't know if he didn't show up. However, these people believed the word as it is, and were pure in the words of Jesus, making sacrifices.

While visiting the store, the disease was cured.

Just like when the wine ran out at a Canaan wedding banquet, the servants poured water into a water jar and brought it to the house of grapes.

As they knew they had become masters, they were on their way and got well.

We can see how precious grace is through this event.

Where should grace and gratitude be based?

First, grace and gratitude must be placed on faith.

There are two kinds of beliefs.

It is God-centered faith and self-centered faith.

“I-centered faith” seems to come out to the temple and live a life of faith, but I interpret everything as my center.

They want their wishes to come true and they want their wishes to come true. Our faith life begins

With this kind of faith, we can come to the temple.

But now, we must change to God-centered faith.

We need to be able to bring glory to God even if we do business, and to be able to realize God’s will in our work life.

do. Finally, our Lord writes, “Not my will, but your will be done.”

You helped.

In reality, we too, like lepers, were wretched human beings with the body of death as children of wrath.

All. But the Lord has healed us all.

Just as a leper was healed by Jesus, so we are all healed through Jesus Christ.

All.

In reality, we were the dead, not the near-dead.

As the saying goes, “The wages of sin is death.” Although all people died in sin, the blood of Jesus Christ was shed on the cross.

You saved us by blood.

With this body that the Lord saved, let me now live a life of faith centered on God!

Second, those who give thanks must have devotion to bow down to the Lord.

“When one of them saw that he was healed, he returned, glorifying God with a loud voice, and fell at Jesus’ feet.

I gave thanks, because I am a Samaritan.” (Luke 17:15-16)

Ten people were healed, but only one Samaritan came to the Lord and bowed down to give thanks.

It was.

People want grace and blessings, but they are stingy with gratitude.

The Lord asked, "Where are the nine?"

Now let us not fall into these nines!

Instead of using Jesus Christ as an instrument, let us remember that we are now members of Jesus Christ.

Come!

This man bowed down and bowed.

The hymn we sang, verse 4, "The Lord accepts this little gift with trembling. After the dark night is over."

As it is a new morning, you always give me faith and hope." He received thanks from this Samaritan.

Third, those who are truly grateful are those who glorify God.

"'Has no one returned to glorify God except this Gentile?' and said to him, 'Get up and go

la. Your faith has saved you.' "(Luke 17:17-19)

Grace and gratitude should be expressed quickly.

When the Samaritan realized that he was healed, he returned quickly and thanked Jesus.

Nine may have their own reasons.

"Didn't Jesus tell us to show our bodies to the priests?"

But their beliefs are self-centered. Their wishes will come true and their ailments will be healed.

Upon receiving it, he wanted to go quickly and show it to his family and friends.

But one Samaritan first thanked Jesus, the man who healed the disease. he said to God

They glorified and bowed down to Jesus.

Nine men healed physical ailments, but this Samaritan healed both physical ailments and spiritual ailments.

The 'sickness of the soul' refers to the 'sickness of not realizing grace'.

The Lord said to this man, "Rise and go, for your faith has saved you." this person is

He was healed both physically and spiritually and was saved.

It happened in Germany. A severe drought caused many people to suffer from hunger. then

A rich man, with good will, gave the children bread from his bakery. many children gather

Uh, they always brought their share of bread. The last girl who took the smallest bread

"Thank you, Grandpa," he said and took the bread. Many children take a large loaf of bread and give thanks

Although not expressed, this child was grateful for the little bread.

Grandpa continued to give bread, but it was the same.

Grandpa put silver coins in the smallest bread for this little girl.

When this girl came home with this bread and was about to eat it while praying with her mother, she found a silver coin and

I brought it to my father.

The grandfather said, "Child, other children don't appreciate the big bread, but you're always grateful for the little bread, so I

It's a gift for you," he said.

God gives greater grace to those who give thanks.

Like this Samaritan, I pray in the name of the Lord that you always give thanks and overflow with grace.

Thank you Heavenly Father. As we approached Thanksgiving, we too were dying like lepers.

Thank you Lord for making us new people. But we can't properly thank the Lord.

Forgive me for this time and let me always give thanks for the big and small things! I pray in Jesus name

is. Amen
