Title: Faith eating out

There are many scribes and Pharisees in the Bible. Because they were the most highly regarded as the religious leaders of the Jews at the time of Jesus. And because their faith is hypocrisy, this chapter records a scene in which they rebuke their hypocritical religious life in a very harsh tone.
We want to get the message of inspirational lessons for us today from the words and anger of the Lord who is angry while repeating the word “Woe to you” 7 times (verses 13, 15, 16, 23, 25, 27, 29) one after another.
1. The knowledge of faith of the scribes and Pharisees was right
As we can see from the text, 3 'Therefore, whatever they say, do and keep it, but do not imitate what they do; .
At that time, the scribes were mainly produced among the Pharisees, and the Pharisees were a denomination known as the Jewish Orthodox school that strictly followed the law. So personally, there were many Pharisees who were scribes.
They were the official teachers of the law, teaching the Mosaic Law in a seat made of stone.
We learn an important fact here. The emphasis on faith in action is also seen in the book of James, where we need to reflect on the shortcomings of wisdom that we mistakenly for what we remember and know is the faith that God accepts.
Even in Ephesians 4:13, 'we will all become one in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, that we may become a perfect man, even to the stature of the stature of the stature of Christ'.
It means that faith is not the only thing that believes and understands. It is the fact that there is no value in the absence of works according to that belief.
James 2:19 "Do you believe that there is only one God? You are good. Even demons believe and tremble."
In this verse, we acknowledge and believe that there is only one God, but that knowledge of faith is also known by demons. Just because you know it doesn't mean it's acceptable to God.
It is true that the scribes and Pharisees were entrusted with the Old Testament law at that time, and they were right in knowledge.
At that time, the Jewish religious society was an atmosphere where everyone was going out of fashion, and there was no one to blame them, so their self-confidence eventually led to the death of Christ, the fulfillment of the law. Therefore, in this regard, the Bible also teaches a very important lesson. you said,
1 Corinthians 8:2 “If anyone thinks he knows anything, he still does not know what he ought to know.”
1 Corinthians 10:12 “Therefore, let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”
The history of the Presbyterian Church, which claims to be the so-called Orthodox Church, is a representative denomination of the long-standing Protestantism. This did not mean that God was glorified only by the characteristics of the Presbyterian denomination. No interest in subjectivity or difficult theological expressions or denominational traditions.
Even to this day, we should reflect on whether or not we have fallen into pride and settled in knowledge and tradition like the scribes and Pharisees, saying that we believe in God.
What kind of seminar, what kind of Bible study, etc. In accordance with the age of knowledge, if you complete a certain course on Bible knowledge in the church, you will see a lot of things that become very proud with a sense of discrimination.
It's not all I know. We must remember. Seeing that the self-misunderstanding of the Pharisees and the scribes caused their destruction, we should receive a message to remind us today that we are not misunderstanding that we fear God only by knowing what we know with knowledge.
2. Hypocrisy hurts others
Importantly, there is a problem in that when faith goes out to eat out, it even bothers others.
4 'And he binds a heavy load and puts it on a man's shoulder, but he himself would not move it with one finger.'
Here we discover that when our faith is not perfect, we are destined to afflict our brothers. At that time, the Jews made laws that were not even in the Bible, and made rules like the monopoly of the Pharisees and scribes, so that the people did not have any difficulty.
1. Do not sow
2. Do not plow the field
3. Do not tie sheaves of grain
4. Do not reap grain
5. Do not thresh grain
6. Don't broil the grain
7. Do not grind grain into powder.
8. Do not steam the grain
9. Do not sieve
10. Do not knead
11. Do not bake
12. Don't shave your hair
13. Don't do laundry
14. Don't Hit
15. Do not dye
16. Do not weave
17. Do not drag the rope
18. Don't make two strings
19. Do not weave the yarn
20. Do not separate the two threads.
21. Don't Knot
22. Do not untie knots (strings)
23. Do not stitch twice with a needle
24. Do not tear the two moxa
25. Don't catch deer
26. Don't Kill

36. Don't hit it flat with a hammer
37. Do not put out the fire
38. Don't turn on the lights
39. Do not move items from one house to another
etc. Of course, I understand the motive for sincerity for Sabbath observance, but I have never been told to keep the Sabbath as a formality, and very importantly, laws that are not kept. And laws that have never been followed.
Even now, each church denomination has a complex constitution. In some cases, there are laws that are not well followed, and laws that are not even possible have been made.
A religious society with wrong values of religion will suffer both individually and nationally. There are many religions in the world, but there are many countries with superstitious religions that still worship idols, where the culture is not developed or the economy is very poor. Or, it is often seen as strange as it is ethically incompatible with the international community.
Christianity, which believes in God as the true God, is ahead of the world in transparent and comparative values in all respects. Corruption of religion or false claims of truth are very easy to see in heretics, causing people to suffer and even to themselves. It is a fact that others will also get the misfortune of being ruined together.
As in this chapter 13, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you shut the gates of the kingdom of heaven before men, and you do not enter, and you do not allow those who are trying to enter.” It is a fact that people, rather, missed opportunities, and that they and others also suffered destruction.
Even Shakyamuni did not go to heaven. Even those who follow cannot go. Because Jesus went to heaven, those who believe will also go. Truth is inevitably true, and non-truth is inevitably false.
The scribes and Pharisees adorned their garments with scriptures and boasted of the form, 'I am a man who lives by the word' (Exodus 13:2-11, 13:11-16, Deut 6:4-9, 11: 13-21, Num. 15:38).
3. Faith without action is woeful
The meaning of the word 'Oujai', the original word for 'Woe to you', is an exclamation of sadness and it is closer to the word [sad ye] than [a curse will be] (Luke 6:24, 25, 10:13, 11:42, 43,44,46, 47, 52, Jude 1:11).
James 2:17, 'So faith without works is dead in itself',
James 2:26 “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.”
James 1:26 The sayings, 'If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue and deceives his heart, this man's religion is in vain'. will be
The important thing is that such formal faith is not received in its own way, but God's punishment will come if it accumulates and the history becomes longer.
It is said that God does not consider people according to their outward appearance, Romans 2:11, 'For God does not judge people by their outward appearance'. Because of this, God hates the false belief that God serves God even more with hypocrisy. When the Israelites of the Old Testament had no sincerity in their hearts and offered formal, very lowly sacrifices, they even hated offerings in the temple.
Mal 1:10 “I wish there was someone among you who would shut the gates of the temple, so that ye might not burn my altar in vain, saith the LORD of hosts; I will not take pleasure in you, nor will I accept the offerings of your hands.”
Israel had only the tradition, the external appearance of the temple, and the formal appearance of the law, and had no mercy and no sacrifices from the heart, but as the Lord prophesied (Matthew 24:), the temple was burned with fire.
The word uJpokritai, which means eating out, comes from the word 'actor', which means 'a hypocrite with two faces'. The Pharisees were proud of paying their tithes, and their fasting and prayer life were also formal for boasting, pretending to be very holy in the eyes of others.
Luke 18:12 'I fast twice a week, and I give tithes of my income.' Verse 5, 'All we do is to show people what we do, that is, we make the gates of their cars wide and the fringes of their clothes are large'.
We must remember that any action we take to show people will be punished by God. You must know that if it is a crime, not just a simple act, God's punishment will follow.
1 Samuel 15:22 "And Samuel said, "Does the LORD take delight in burnt offerings and other sacrifices, as does the obedience of his voice? Obedience is better than sacrifice, and hearing is better than the fat of rams."
Hos 6:6 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice, but rather the knowledge of God than burnt offerings.'
Proverbs 4:23 “More than anything else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”
James 1:26-27 “If anyone considers himself religious and does not bridle his tongue and deceives his own heart, then this man’s religion is in vain. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is that orphan and widowed This is what he looks after and keeps himself unstained from the world.”
Today, we are living in an ironic and unfortunate life as people of culture who have been immersed in a very special syndrome of the age of appearanceism and built up through the efforts of intelligence and science.
In fact, in many parts of the church's culture, external, physical, and secular forms were permeated. We must confess, we must reflect and repent before the power of the Lord that is coming soon, remembering the words of formalism given today.
God is a Spirit, and he reads the consciences of the saints with the Holy Spirit, and it can be seen that the voice of the Pharisees and scribes here rebuking the hypocrisy of true faith is enough to make us look back.
The faith of the early Korean church, which was sincere and sincere, has already become a legend and remains only as a memory. You don't know how much the church's ideology has been tainted with humanization.
The work of the Pharisees and the scribes will by no means be a history of the past. Recognizing today as a scene that sounds a warning to us living in the present day, I pray that you and I will receive the Lord's grace and recognition by demonstrating honesty of faith and holistic religious character as true Christians in action in the new year. *
