Psalm 107 is a poem of thanksgiving and a poem of prayer. The psalmist in Psalm 107 commands us to declare thanks. It is written to offer thanksgiving and to praise and proclaim the Lord.
Let's consider some lessons from the text.
First, pray. I will dry you !
Verse 6 says, “Then they cried out to the LORD in their distress, and he delivered them from their distress.”
Verse 13 says, “Then they cried out to the LORD in their distress, and he saved them from their affliction.”
Verse 19 says, “Then they cried out to the LORD in their anguish, and he saved them from their distress.”
Verse 28: “Then they cried out to the LORD in their distress, and he brought them out of their troubles.”
In Psalm 107, in several verses, the promise of deliverance is recorded if we pray.
To ‘cry out’ means to pray out loud. Prayer never scatters in the air like an echo. Surely God hears and answers. However, prayers with doubts do not reach God.
There are obstacles that block our prayers.
1. It is a sin.
Sin is an obstacle that blocks our relationship with God, so we cannot meet God and pray.
2. Doubt.
Since the source of doubt is unbelief, if you do not believe and doubt, God will not answer you.
3. It is resentment.
The root of resentment is a vicious habit of underestimating God's health and power, so if you pray with a resentful heart, there will never be an answer. When the Israelites came out of Egypt, they complained that they could not enter the land of Canaan and died in the wilderness.
4. A closed relationship.
If you are going to make a sacrifice at the altar, and remember that you are going to complain to your brother, leave your sacrifice on the altar, and go and be reconciled to your brother, then offer the sacrifice.
If you worship, pray, and praise with hatred, jealousy, and envy, God will not accept anything.
The powerful God has promised to deliver, save, and guide us when we cry out in sorrow.
Second, He is healed by the Word.
Verse 20 says, “He has sent his word, healed them, and delivered them from their plight.
He is the God who heals with the word, just as Hezekiah, who was sick and dying, sent the prophet Isaiah to tell him the words of healing and restoration.
When Jesus healed the sick, He touched or touched the sick. On the other hand, there were cases where they were healed with the Word.
If we do not draw close to the Word, we will inevitably fall, fall into temptation, and fall into heresy.
Because the Word is power, it heals our lives, heals and renews our souls.
Third, give a life of gratitude.
Verse 22 says, “Let us offer a thanksgiving offering and proclaim the deeds with song.”
The thanksgiving festival here means offering a sacrifice in gratitude for God's grace and love, and sharing that joy with our neighbors.
Psalm 50:23 says, “He who offers sacrifices of thanksgiving will glorify me.”
