Sermons for Preaching

Title: Faith must grow

Contents

Even people who don't go to church have heard the saying at least once.

The miracle of feeding 5,000 men with five loaves and two fish, and leaving 12 light bulbs

It really was a great event.

I hope that this abundant grace of God will overflow in the lives of the members who worship today.

The background of today's text takes place in front of the miracle called Oh Byeong-Eye.

Hearing Jesus tell them to get on a boat and cross over to the other side, they encounter a storm on the way. Jesus walking on the water and Peter who obeyed his words experience a miracle of walking on the water, but they see the wind and fall into the water.

When Jesus rescues Peter and gets into the boat, the storm that seemed to devour the boat is temporarily calmed.

People often say that if you believe in Jesus, you will be blessed.

Yes.

The history of mankind proves that when the Gospel enters an uncivilized country, it becomes a country that prospers economically and develops culturally as well.

However, in the context of today's text, it feels like this word is not right.

Let's see why we feel this way and what the text suggests to us.

A place of blessings where there was abundant bread and rest of the oyster fish.

Everyone will want to stay in a place like this for a long time.

The disciples got into the boat and went to the other side with anticipation as Jesus had said.

But what awaited them?

It was the size of a house and a storm.

We are faced with an unpredictable life crisis.

Verse 22, “Jesus immediately urged the disciples to get into the boat and go ahead to the other side while he sent the crowd away.”

Here, ‘prompt’ is written in the Greek word ‘enangkasen’, which means ‘to force’.

In other words, he was sent by almost unilateral coercion and coercion, rather than explaining it to his disciples and obtaining their consent.

Then, surely the disciples would not have thought, “There must be something better for us to see them send us in such a hurry from such a wonderful place of miracles”?

But the reality was not like that.
